In the book, it was also implied that he didn't acknowledge Tyrion as his son (publicly, he was forced to, but not in his heart) and hated Tyrion because he made him doubt his wife's loyalty (and he DID love her, so this hurt him most of all). Iirc it hasn't been brought up in the show.In post 2292, Seacore wrote:You can imagine that stuff spring, but it isn't true. Or at least not established canon.
Tywin did genuinely and completely love his wive, and when she died, taken from him through the birth of Tyrion, the joy in his life left. Tywin also believes in legacy, and Tyrion is a mockery of the great legacy of Lannister blood.
You put those two things together and you've got Tyrion who has taken away the two things Tywin cared most about. You don't need any more to make Tywin's hate understandable.
This, but I was also D: upset. In post 2303, Ythan wrote:I was like "Well I guess Arya's dead maybe. Back to the hundred living characters."-

I fucking loved Cersei in this episode. Anyone with me?
Definitely her most interested episode so far for me. Very well done.-

I go into every ASOIAF book assuming that everybody's going to die. So far, it's saved me a great deal of disappointment. One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.-

I never really cared about the Starks much as a family unit, and would have been happy with a peaceful surrender. I cared about several of the characters, though. One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. My boyfriend literally quit the show over Red Wedding. He said he's thought it's been getting progressively more stupid for a while, but... Idk. lol Maybe he'll come back to it. He's not all "STARKS BAW" he just doesn't like the direction of the show.-

Didn't he touch on this, actually? He said something about being 'forced to acknowledge Tyrion as a Lannister, because he has no way of proving otherwise'; implying that he suspects or wishes otherwise. Perhaps more of the latter than the former, so I guess it's not quite what you describe from the book.In post 2304, Amrun wrote: In the book, it was also implied that he didn't acknowledge Tyrion as his son (publicly, he was forced to, but not in his heart) and hated Tyrion because he made him doubt his wife's loyalty (and he DID love her, so this hurt him most of all). Just finished binge-watching this season, I thought it was every bit as good as the previous two. Ep. 4 was my favourite, joy at Daenerys outsmarting the slavers and freeing the army, combined with horror at the Night's Watch falling apart. And the whole of Jaime-Brienne development was outstanding, I wasn't expecting ever to sympathise with Jaime. And Tywin-Joffrey was hilarious.
The bit with Podrick and the prostitutes was the only flaw in my opinion; that just seemed really farcical and out-of-place to me.
Littlefinger's speech in 'The Climb' was powerfully done imo, and Ros' murder shook me, probably as much as Cat, Robb and Talisa in the Red Wedding, it was all horrific. I was sure that some characters were going to die by the end of the season but I was totally wrong as to which ones - I had Theon and Gendry pegged as goners. Too obvious maybe. Although after the Red Wedding happened I felt like I should have seen it coming, the idea that Walder Frey would just forgive them and move on seemed much too easy.
And now Yara has gone to rescue Theon I can't tell whether he is going to die or not. Although the leeches would suggest that Balon Greyjoy has it coming.
I also loved Jojen and Meera, I'm glad they've joined Bran at last. Although I think it would be helpful if there were more than a few daggers worth of dragonglass. I presume Danaerys is going to turn up later and use the dragons to create more??-

Oh, the one thing I thought during the Red Wedding - for a couple of strides more, couldn't Catelyn have gotten her knife against Walder's throat, instead of his wife's? It seemed obvious from his character that he wouldn't give a damn about her. But of course, if it didn't happen that way then it didn't happen that way.-

Well yeah, it'd take an effort. Okay, maybe it'd be hard to do it swiftly and carefully enough to take him hostage, but she might have been able to just stab him a bit.-

And I'm confused why she didn't just throw some ninja stars at everybody. She could have taken all the Freys out herself if she'd have just used some ninjutsu. One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies.
