In post 1749, Iecerint wrote:Thor, that post indicates a Emp->Hoopla town read. Posts like that are inconsistent with Empking's subsequent claim that he neighborized Hoopla on the basis that she was merely a name he recognized, absent any kind of town read. (Dunno what "grapefruiting" means, though.)
1. Grapefruiting is explained in the context of my post right before his - he quoted it. What confuses you?

2. Yes, it does indicate an Emp -> Hoopla town read (even moreso it indicates a Pere = Liar mindset). What is the inconsistency?

Oh, then I guess it's just a metonym for testicles. I thought it might have some additional jargon-y meaning that would undermine it being a Emp>Hoopla town read (and hence make the inconsistency go away).

The point is that Emp gave varying accounts of his read on Hoopla, why he neighborized her, et al. If he had a town read on Hoopla, he probably neighborized her because she was town to him, but compare this:
In post 1613, Empking wrote:
In post 1611, pirate mollie wrote:@ empking - what made you decide to neighborise hoopla?
A name I recognized. I didn't give it much thought.
This comes after Matt had made the point about the pattern of EmpKing's implied read on Hoopla being inconsistent, but it itself is inconsistent with information he himself had provided.

Occam's razor -> uncertainty regarding how to best frame what happened Emp->Hoopla, especially coupled with MattP's stuff, led to the pattern of inconsistencies.

The main argument
against
EmpScum I can see is that it doesn't make much sense for Hoopla to implicate her friend in this way unless she was just pretty confident she could get through it.

Allow me to present the timeline as I understand it.

1. Emp neighborizes Hoopla because it's a name he recognizes.
2. He asks Hoopla if he is scum in the QT.
3. Emp votes Pere for reasons (heck if I know what they were, I'm too lazy to even go look)
4. Hoopla is called scum by someone claiming to be a Voyeur who did not see the neighborize.
5. Emp, still not claiming, shows desire to lynch Pere, a player that from his perspective has to be lying about his claim.
6. Emp states he thinks Pere is lying.
7. Emp is called out for inconsistency of reads.

I follow the flow really well until Part 7.
Can you clarify it?

Interestingly - I consider that the best argument
for
Empscum.

IIRC at some point early in this half of today someone asked if Hoopla made sense as the cult recruit, and EmpKing said that he thought she did. This made me think that townEmpKing probably didn't neighborize Hoopla simply because she was a name he recognized, which he explicitly claimed subsequent to saying she made sense as the cult recruit. This is where I see the inconsistency in what EmpKing has reported. I think it's actually a little bit different from what MattP pointed out, but MattP's pointing it out made me think about this.

I can't find the relevant post in his iso right now, though, so maybe someone else said this and I mis-remembered that it was EmpKing?

No I said Hoopla made a reasonable cult recruit (funnily enough to Thor.)

You said you "chose someone arbitrary"

Not that you "chose someone arbitrary that hadn't been looked at"

Regardless, I know you're scum for *reasons* I'm not going to get into

Yes I chose someone arbitrary. If you accept, as I do, that the bacteria in one's gut has wisdom far eclipsing our own, then it shouldn't surprise when the arbitrary name makes rational sense.

wait that isn't true there was a pretty strong wagon on hoopla on d1 for the second lynch led by overlysoul. there are a couple of players who had not been looked at on d1 and hoopla was not 1 of them. that is 1 thing that is bugging me.

the second is that when you said, (paraphrased) "so how did it feel when you got your scum role pm" from the wb you said it at a time when you were not really defending hoopla, it was at a point where you seemed like you were waiting to see where everybody else was going to go with perv's reveal and hoopla's claim. your response reads as cautious to me.

I said it during the night. If Hoopla had a wagon I must've forgotten about it.

Lynch -> Lynch -> Night -> Lynch -> Lynch -> Night

We are currently on the 2nd lynch of D2.

PereV has an ability that identifies players who are recruited, targeted Hoopla N1, got that she had been recruited, Hoopla was lynched and flipped Zombie. During the 1st half of D2 EmpKing claimed to have Neighborized Hoopla N1. I think HD also had an ability that could identify how many scum there were, and he got 3 at the start of D2.

Certain players have a weak cop-y mechanic that turns the game into a logic puzzle later on maybe.

Hey guys I debugged my problem I think.

^ Cool, then sheeping you is probably pro-town. Right? Right. Ugh, this game is weird. So there are 2 scum alive presumably? And it looks like its just a cult given the no NK? So a CL and a 3rd party or a CL/CL CL/somethingculty
