Really, I'd be stealing KScope's idea. He came up with using alternate forums first, iirc.

Too bad they all forgot to patent it, so now you're technically stealing
my
idea.
(read: the concept of stealing ideas is dumb, especially when it comes to this, so why is this even a point of discussion? Also, we should totes have the OP updated more often.)

In post 894, xofelf wrote:Well there is one thing that I do semi care about(read as: affect me somewhat) that was stated in these last few pages: The OP of this thread can get woefully behind. If you're not keeping up with thread as it is, often potential games or ones in signups can get missed unless you scour through the Mish Mash forum itself. Not just because of the RPG threads, there are enough other ones that make it problematic as well. I do think that if the OP got updated more often, games in signups wouldn't have to worry about being buried in ongoing things.
Not to make excuses, but I didn't (don't?) think people really use the list. It seems far more reliable and convenient to me to skim the thread's recent posts if you're looking for new games, but YMMV.

SKrew admitted via Site Chat, and I posted here reminding you all that he'd be going upwards of 20 threads as well, where at this point it looks like we're only sitting at a solid 18. also "worst offender" makes me laugh since I still find this to be a non-issue, and when we've provided severals solutions using already-in-place systems to solve the "issue"

also, fuzzy and I need to get more in-sync obviously: we're not moving this game off-site

P-Edit: I do think they'd use the list if it got updated, jsyk. it's just at this point people who know Mish Mash anticipate this NOT being the case, so of course they're better off looking through recent-er posts

no, it's really not. that requires another username and login password, time spent configuring the space we want to use and moving over material, when it's all on THIS site already, another tab constantly open for both players and Mods, less interconnectivity with the rest of the site (e.g. Site chat as a valuable discussion/announcement area) and is just a hassle in general for both players and Moderators

Please don't insult us by using "only" and "18" in the same sentence. That's way too many. It's definitely an issue, and the criticisms apply if you're planning on using Mish Mash to run them. By all means, create a subforum, use QT's or go to a whole other site, but anything more than three or so threads is just too much clutter IMO.

and I respectfully disagree because I don't constantly sift through all the threads - I use a system in place to assist me in actually looking at the threads I want to look at (e.g. bookmarks) but apparently Flay is open to the subforum idea, which is the only one that's even a viable solution in the list you provided above, so we're gonna wait and see what happens on that score

The idea of a forum for games with loads of threads seems quite workable. It should probably be named something very general, though - it should be usable for any game that needs extra threads besides the main one, not just RPGs.

I don't like the clutter in the forum, tbh. I'd be okay with off-site but again, that'd be another place for me to have to check with bookmarks and it's so much easier to be able to see the last post date on these forums.

Subforums please? Not like a new subforum for each game but maybe a set number of subforums, and RPGs/games have to "reserve" them if they want to have multiple threads? Totally pulling shit out of my ass here but I wouldn't like to have to go offsite to check on the HPRPG~

I wouldn't mind going offsite, but that's just me. The Harry Potter RPG sounds fun, so as long as the game is fun I'd go anywhere to play it.
I do like the idea of a subforum though. One dedicated for games that take more than 5 threads and not just RPGs, like Izak mentioned.

Spoiler: WARNING: Quote Stripes re: invisionfree
In post 911, Maestro wrote:no, it's really not. that requires another username and login password
Because spending a minute registering your MS username/password on another forum is time wasting
Maestro wrote:, time spent configuring the space we want to use and moving over material, when it's all on THIS site already,
Done this multiple times. Also, moving over 'material" = copy pasting, which can be done in a matter of minutes.
Maestro wrote:another tab constantly open for both players and Mods,
I think you've missed the 5+ anon Survivors that have done this - clearly no one actually cares about this section but you. Besides, how much damage will ONE tab do. Answer: Not much
Maestro wrote:less interconnectivity with the rest of the site (e.g. Site chat as a valuable discussion/announcement area)
... you can't setup a room for Harry Potter RPG chat/lobby if your game is on another sub-forum? First I've heard about this.

Maestro wrote:and is just a hassle in general for both players and Moderators
I'd be willing to do all the technical work and/or show you guys how to also.

That said, I'm OK with this idea of making a new sub-forum.
