In post 238, OhGodMyLife wrote:Look, I never said the arguments against Alex were "bad." I never said anything about the quality at all. I was talking about what looked like the motivation behind the arguments being made. Town motivation would be to determine Alex's alignment. Scum motivation would be to simply make Alex look scummy. I perceived the latter. JK seems like a bright guy and I have a hard time believing he actually misunderstood this. He's doubling down on his misrep because he got called on it.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. YOU are misunderstanding ME.
Goal of this game = finding scum. Arguments that don't do this = bad arguments. Therefore, if arguments against Alex are an attempt to paint a bad picture rather than determine his alignment they are, by definition, bad arguments. If this still doesn't make sense, I give up.

As for the chosen thing, the bloodthirsty way Amrun went after me based on what I thought was almost nothing didn't make sense in any other context.
However, it's becoming more apparent that perhaps I was genuinely misunderstood, rather than intentionally misrepped.
I'm happy to

Jake, what's your hohum argument...? And why aren't you voting hohum if your read is 'confirmed'?

This game. I regret promising to catch up so soon. I'm on a mobile, so more substantial things will have to wait until it's not an ungodly hour and I'm on a computer. First impressions for now, though.

I'm probably not chosen because apparently I have gotten away with lurking without anyone ever mentioning it, so hooray!

runnerman, y u ignore me?

Out of the Jake from State Farm and hohum spat, I'm comfortable calling them both town. Jake from State Farm came into the argument with a force that I like and he's been contributing since even if what he says is disagreeable at times. I like that hohum openly admitted to sheeping Amrun and not having much more; it was easy for him to add more if he was running up runnerman.

Out of the Amrun and JKMatthews spat... I start having problems. I hate that a lot of it was semantics. JKMatthews started out strong (see F-16_Fighting_Falcon's post on the matter, as that was basically what I was thinking), had a couple of bad posts, and then boom. Amrun I have no idea how to read, but I thought she came out of that argument better. In any case, I absolutely need to reread this to cross-reference Amrun's allegations of there being a pattern in JKMatthews's behavior, so that is happening some hours later (I swear by everything).

Amrun is likely town for forgetting that Jake from State Farm is a replacement, though; she would have been aware of it as scum and her mistake felt natural/genuine.

EBWOP: JKMatthews started out strong
in the overall game
, had a couple of bad posts, and then boom.

The couple of bad posts are posts and , addressed to Jake from State Farm. JKMatthews cited a "lack of town motivation" (paraphrased), but what Jake from State Farm was doing did not have scum motivation, either; that was just him being him.

lack of content firstly, but it was more so his over-reaction to being called a lurker. I know this is a tough pill to swallow but had I not recently been following a game where a player was calling another player a lurker, that player had a weird over-reaction and most people took it as a town tell. Turns out he was actually scum. The fact remains that hohum WAS lurking and he hasn't provided any useable content. I mean he shows up and makes 1 comment towards me and doesn't comment on anything else going on or involve himself in discussions going on.

he gave no reason for his bandwagon hop on alex
he gave no reason for his bandwagon hop on runner other than "agreeing with amrun"

More importantly, He has yet to explain how he can claim he was "all caught up" yet still needed time to "wrap his head around things". IMO being caught up means you have read and formed opinions. Not being able to have your own opinions about players in the game is also kind of scummy.

Get a life.

I'm done.
I interpret his anger as a scumtell, if he would have tried to defend himself from the accusation I would have been ok with him. Also one of the first town games I played under this name, salamance I believe it was claimed miller and I was immediately all over that claim. I died night 1 but later when town was about to lynch him he faked anger and gained town cred. There is actually a game I played recently where I faked anger as scum (two games actually)

now anger can be legitimate from town and I certainly can point to games where I have been angry, but the situation has to make sense. When a person is ACTUALLY lurking and gets angry about it, that's a minor scumtell. Scum are afraid to defend themselves else they will be called defensive.

so my vote stays

Hohum wasn't lurking then, and that anger is a town tell, not a scum tell.

He absolutely was and keep being blind to the anger, meanwhile I see scum do it to gain town cred ALL the time. I freaking invented the tactic years ago

Anger isn't a tell either way, and he was NOT lurking.

But this particular set of anger on hohum was townish. I know him better than you.
