Do 8-4s.

In all fairness, if you're new-ish and not looking for the greatest EV right away, 4-3-2-2s will help you lose less money overall, while still getting to draft.

not confident enough in my ability to draft to do 8-4s just yet. mostly just want to use mtgo for draft practice when I can't get out to my LGS.

at least if I win the first round in a 4-3-2-2 consistently, I can pay only ~$5 for a draft pretty much.

Okay.

You can easily, with a new account, accumulate enough value to keep playing for free. A new player phantom draft is 1 new player ticket + 1 regular ticket, which means you're spending $1 at most to draft. If you win, you get a pack of M14, which is worth 3 tix from bots. Rinse, repeat.

Yeup. don't keep the cards, but if you know how to draft, considering the new player accts come with something like 15 new player tix? You can easily freeroll your way to a decent deck

Swiss are actually better EV than 4-3-2-2, from my understanding.

You know what would be awesome with this set? Academy Rector.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

Also, can someone please post in magic thread
since I can't
to stop pie from losing his tix
And tell him that 4322 always has worse EV than swiss or 8-4
if your win % is over a certain amount 8-4 has highest ev, if its lower than a certain amount then highest ev is swiss, but 4322 never has the highest EV

The New Player 4-Person Phantom Draft and Sealed tourneys hand out one pack to the winner, your ten dollars is already a sunk cost and for a dollar each your break even percent is 28.57% tourney wins with M14 packs selling at 3.5 tickets. I just went 9/17 in those drafts (and 1/3 in Sealed) so basically I covered my the $10 initial investment and the 20$ to play those events and came up five tickets ahead.

Pretty sure this card is unplayable for at least as long as rtr block is around. Maybe in block if the rest of the sets look as slow as this one does so far.

5 loyalty is a pain to deal with. depending on the cards exiled a deck might have to stop to deal with it, and getting 5 damage through disruption can be pretty hard
