Reck is watching this show most correctly, I'm finding. And by that I mean that I agree with his opinions most of all, to the point that I'm not going to bother typing much.
RE: The departures. The extra Bran scenes are the equivalent of the early, constant and ad naseum Theon->Reek scenes. In the book we can get flash backs, summaries and gaps in people's stories. 10 Episode annual seasons aren't as forgiving. I don't see a big problem if Jon meets Bran. Jon might have to kill Locke to let Bran escape, giving them yet again more reason to sentence him to death for killing a black brother. From memory, Jon and Bran see each other's wolves at some point, so I think Jon has an idea that Bran's out there (because I don't think Sam told him in the books). Anyway, that's not too much of a problem for me.
However, I feel the whole Craster's set up is a shame and wish, probably more than any other departure, that it was closer to the books, from the mutiny onward really.
However, this episode had no Arya, and therefore is by definition terrible, despite the fact that I enjoyed most of it.
Oh, and it's interesting that they're making Bronn a little more loyal. Book Bronn probably wouldn't have had a heart to heart with Jaime. But I get with the loss of Ser Illyn, they are augmenting him somewhat.
And yes, Reck. PODRICK FUCKIN PAYNE. The moment that scene opened with his grinning face, I wanted to stand up and cheer. I mean, it's a shame we lose the way he joins her in the book, but he's there, so I don't care.-

What's noteworthy is the fact that you guys are talking about what happens in the books in this thread. I didn't want to know that the whole bran story right now is all bs in terms of cannon. Surely you can talk about similarities and differences between the book and the show in the book thread? In post 2769, Tierce wrote:

Ser Pounce was apparently a monster to work with. They got used to well-behaved child actors and then decided to add animals and it was a cardinal sin of film making. I'm pretty sure Cogman got several gray hairs due to that cat alone. Well done, kitty.-

Then use your words and say so, instead of what you said in 2765. I don't think there's anything particularly important plotwise or spoilery in knowing that the current Bran storyline is mostly new, but if that kind of information bothers you,In post 2777, absta101 wrote:

Edit: The point is: if you have a legitimate complaint about how this thread is being used (which you do), then by all means voice it. 2777 is fine. 2765 does absolutely nothing in terms of fixing something that is apparently bothering you.-

I dunno. I guess that's kind of personal. I put primacy on the books, so I tend to think of the happenings there are cannon, but I don't mind when the show deviates if it's for a good reason (and there are lots of possible reasons for that).
Anyway, we do have a book thread, and I think it's better to use the book thread to discuss the show than the other way around..-

So? You don't have to talk about the books in the tv show thread. Think about it.In post 2783, Ythan wrote:The books inform the show.-

I wonder if Alfie knew about Reek when he auditioned for Theon.
"Okay, so we're casting you in the role of Theon Greyjoy. The only living son of a viking king, you have been raised by your father's mortal enemy as a ward against further uprisings. You are torn between your loyalties and will end up betraying at least one if not both of them. You are deadly with a bow, and enjoy using women for your pleasure"
"Yeah, that sounds really good. A bit of an anti-hero by the sounds of things. A good strong character, a warrior..."
"Oh, and then you get captured, tortured, have your penis cut off and play a quivering shell of former human being"
"Uh, wha...?"
"Good good, see you first thing tomorrow"-

I'm not sure what you mean. The Sansa pacing is finally starting to pick up after 4 seasons.-

Yes, but they skipped entire segments of her voyage and compressed some events/revelations. I could be wrong, but her plot line seems to be moving fastest compared to the books. I would rather it be Bran's, which is being dragged out for no artistic reason.Currently partying at the-- a Large Normal for 21 revelers.M A S Q U E R A D E-

We're straying into the "go discuss it in the book thread" category here.
In other discussion. The Arya and Hound scenes were great, but they had Arya in them, so that's to be expected. The Craster's keep scene was fairly boring in its resolution in my opinion. And the kingslanding scenes were just scene settings really.
Robin is a little creep, so I'm glad they're doing that well, and Lyssa is excellent at being crazy. The littlefinger tutorial scenes are good.
And the line that Dany drops, telling the viewer to not expect her in Westeros any time soon was pretty sweet.
