Cursecatcher is good! Like, it's a not-cuttable card. Never cut it!

Cursecatcher is one of those cards that never *looks* good, but it has a very subtle impact. If they are playing around Cursecatcher, then it's doing it's job--every time an opponent is forced to wait an extra turn to wrath your board, it's done it's job. It turns Pyretic Ritual into 2R: add RRR, it screws up math. It means that UWR has to revelate for -1. The card is just so good.

That's not even getting into it's really cool uses: Vial on one w/ a catcher in hand catches people off guard all the time. You can Image Cursecatcher to build a Spell Pierce.

The card is really really good and I hate when people cut it :/

I've seen Exhaustion being tauted on MTGS lately, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'd like to test it, but sorcery speed seems very icky.

On a similar note, Hibernation was good in testing, but my meta has less pod and more jund so Tidebinder was better overall. If you're expecting more Pod-type decks, Hibernation is playable in those slots.

Anyone going to GP Chicago?

I'd love to meet up with anyone in the area, and I'm hosting a beer/pizza/testing shindig at my place on friday night.

Also, if anyone is going and still looking for accomodations I can offer a free floor to crash on.

I'm playing UW. I think we're going to see a serious overreaction to the SCG open last weekend, which will bring in many mono red decks which are a good matchup anyway, in addition to the other decks packing tons of cards meant to fight that matchup (anger of the gods, for instance) which are completely dead against UW. I think it's pretty well positioned. I kinda want to play 2 detention sphere and 4 syncopate, but that just can't be right. Still ironing out last few MD choices and some sb stuff.

If I had known how my summer would have landed, I would have planned for Chicago instead of Boston. Now it's looking like I won't get to do either. Still happy with my choice of Fish though. Went 5-0 at FNM last week (though I should have lost to the Jund match. He just played it horribly)

I considered it briefly but a six hour drive by myself to play a deck I like but not love with no byes didn't seem worth it.

It looks really good. Hoping that I can get my financials sorted out in the next month so that I can get a few drafts in.

M15 Prerelease was today. How'd people do?

I went 2-2 in both the 1v1 and the 2HG.

1v1 deck was RG big stuff. Worked pretty well, felt like the deck underperformed.

2HG I had a GW convoke deck with Spirit Bonds, 2 Triplicate Spirits, Feral Incarnation, it was just gross. Partner had red/black mono removal. Unfortunately, we had some bad draws(I mulled to 5 in one game) and our opponents had some good ones(gaining 20 life with Congregate and then making unblockable Phytotitan and Genesis Hydra was icky.)

Is divination a first pick?

The answer to this question will mainly be what I used to determine how much I play this format.

No? Then again I'd have to open the world's worst M14 pack for me to first pick a divination so maybe I'm not the best person to answer that question.

Divination was probably the best common in m14.

Definitely in the top 5-10. If you weren't first picking divination some significant amount of the time then you were probably playing the format incorrectly.

Here is the list of cards I would definitely take over divination. Everything else is at least close.

archangel
devout invocation
serra angel
air servant
claustrophobia
colossal whale
essence scatter (maybe)
Jace
opportunity
Doom Blade
Quag sickness (maybe)
Sengir Vampire
Shadowborn demon
Scourge of Valkas
Shivan Dragon
Briarpack alpha
Garruk
Kalonian Hydra
P Bounty

Well I don't agree with the first at all but I don't disagree with the last half of the last sentence. Hence, "maybe I'm not the best person to answer that question."

Also, I always drew in m14 draft.

Goblin shortcutter and child of night were basically unplayable in that format. Yet people kept playing them against me.

Then again, I had roughly a 80% win rate in 8-4s, and I'll bet the people playing those cards were significantly lower. :)

I really hated M14 limited, except the one draft where I had double Silence, double Elite Arcanist, which was incredible amounts of fun.

The one M15 draft I've done was quite fun. It's probably not quite M14, but I'm not sure first-pick Divination will be *wrong*.

Its more like M13 where tempo reigns supreme. In my ~20 drafts, UR and UG have been the most winning by far.
