Beck stares at his door, his brow sweaty and warm. He tiredly watches as a doctor walks in, holding a couple IV bags. The doctor smiles and begins to hook them up to Becks IV line, prompting Becks question,

"What is that, did you figure out what is wrong with me?"

The doctor nodded,

"You have Sepsis. Your immune system went into overdrive and went unrestricted throughout your entire body, choking out your bloodstream with white blood cells. These cells caused most of your organs to become inflamed, hindering some of their functions, causing most of your symptoms. If you were to go on without treatment any longer, your organs would suffer a severe Septic shock and begin to shut down, which would inevitably lead to your death. Luckily, with sufficient antibiotics and fluid replacement therapies, you should be fine."

The doctor smiled, checked Becks numbers, and walked out.

Beck has been anonymously diagnosed with

Sepsis,

an autoimmune disease that causes the body's immune system to go into overdrive and go unrestricted, usually caused by the catalyst of a mild underlying bacterial infection, eventually filling the entire body with excess white blood cells. These white blood cells inflame most of the organs in the body, hindering some of their functions, before progressing to the point that the organs begin to suffer severe septic shock and begin to completely fail, leading to death. Treatment with antibiotics, anti-immune response drugs, and fluid replacement therapy should see to his recovery.

Doctors, guys. Webmd isn't going to be any help at all, here. Would call for the Immunologist to check up on his immune system, but it won't give the diagnosis, only confirm that he's immunocommpromised. Do we have a surgeon or something? we should amputate the arm and hope that the bacteria hasn't already spread to the rest of his body

Necrotizing Fascitis is one of the deadliest bacterias around. Wolfy knew this when he received his diagnosis.

The doctor that figured it out stood over Wolfy, explaining the situation. Wolfy was afflicted by a super-bacteria known as Necrotizing Fascitis, a highly dangerous form of bacteria that attacks tissue by releasing toxins, toxins that slowly dissolve tissue around the bacteria, most characteristically in limbs such as legs or arms. It is renowned for its lethality due to the bacteria being highly developed and resistant to antibiotics. Once the disease itself burrows into its victim and progresses far enough, antibiotics will no longer be sufficient and will do nothing more than slow down the disease. Most people suffering from the disease die from acute Toxic Shock as a result of the toxins released by the disease, and the necrosis of dead tissue. It is highly considered that once the bacteria spreads past a limb and onto the torso or other non-amputable parts of the body, that the victim's chances of survival drop.

While the disease was caught in the beginning of its lethal stages, Wolfy has been able to be set onto immediate Surgical Debriding to remove dead tissue, and injections of high dose, intravenous antibiotics to significantly slow or kill the bacteria. An amputation of the arm is needed, but the infection itself seemed to have been contained in the arm itself and won't spread to the rest of his body. Had Wolfy been left untreated for any longer, it would have been unlikely he'd have survived.
