Rank 5-1 seems to be 80% AggroHunter/ControlWarrior/Priest. Priest is either deathrattle/undertaker or just control. Control is a bit more common.

Ramp druid gets played occasionally. Everything else is rare.

My final decklist catered quite a bit to the aggro hunter decks. The spellbreaker and owl were largely included for using on Mad Scientist drops because hunters getting a free trap is a really difficult tempo swing to fight against, especially since my deck counts on constant board control to stay alive. Its not just hunters though. Against warrior, acolytes of pain are really good targets for silence as are occasional belchers and armorsmiths. Against priest, its not quite as useful. It did actually save me from a Sylvanas drop from sjow though. Speaking of sjow, I fought him twice. I had PRECISE lethal in both games I played him. The last one I was one turn from losing and I top decked a power overwhelming for exact lethal.

Priest was my hardest matchup I think. Its possible I just haven't figure out how to play around them. Getting board cleared by Auchenai Circles is just hilarious and they have it every single time. Losing tempo around T4 when I need to start transitioning to big drops just really hurts.


Control warrior was a bit 50/50 at first, but my final decklist seemed to just steamroll warriors. Dropping a Spiderr/Egg often seemed to lure out either an Acolyte or Armorsmith drop which I'd promptly dispose of with an Abusive/PowerOverwhelming. I found that warriors will have a Fiery war Axe in their hand 90+% of the time, but dropping undertaker or Chow on T1 didn't really seem to slow me down much despite that. The main card to play around is brawl, I found its often best to sit on some of my smaller minions and waste mana if I already have board control. Losing all of my small drops was bad when it happened. Sunfury protector is actually a hero here. Giving 1/1 spiderlings (or other tiny minions) taunt, protected things like Jugglers from warrior weapons and forced them to get really low value off of their attacks.

Hunter is an annoying bullshit thing to fight against and madscientist needs to get the shit nerfed out of it. Mortal coils are in the deck 70% for just this matchup. Being able to snipe leper gnomes gives me a boner each and every time I do it. Silences for undertaker (or more importantly, the fucking freezing trap scientist) are necessary because getting your one minion frozen costs enough tempo that you probably lose if it happens. Taunt walls need to be up all the time, every time. This matchup feels like a coin toss and basically just comes down to how good our opening hands are.

Druid/Shaman. My combined winrate against these occasional appearances is > 90%, I dont think thats an exaggeration. Im not sure why, but it is.

So...I've been playing a lot of card games at the moment (mostly Netrunner and Hearthstone) and I'm really starting to enjoy hearthstone less and less. I just feel like there are a lot of cards that don't have counterplay. My current piece of shit card is Alexstraza. I can be winning and in a good position and my opponent does 15 damage to me and drops an 8/8 on the board for 9 mana. A couple of games in a row this has just completely fucked my tempo. I don't feel like there's any counterplay because even if I hex/SW:D/Poly whatever the minion, I've still just taken a full fifteen damage and been forced to use hard removal for 9 mana!

I like the game, I do, I just feel like sometimes my opponents can affect me without my having any significant ability to react to it. (SEE ALSO: MIND CONTROL!)

I've been playing this a bit lately. Neat game. Some good design ideas in here, along with some big annoyances. Don't really care enough about it to do more than hit rank 20 since that's apparently a thing to unlock card backs. Oh, also Arena and Adventures. I'm probably going to just be playing weird decks that I put together once I get to rank 20 each month.

so ive been collecting gold for gvg shit to come out and today they arrived in the Arena.

everyone gets a free arena with the new gvg cards so that was cool.

I went 5-3 with a shit Paladin deck then 5-3 with a decent Priest deck and 2-3 with a shit rogue deck. Then warlock gets a try. I havent arena'd as warlock in at least three months cause I just don't know wtf to do. Holy shit some of the gvg additions were fun to play as warlock. I didn't get to experience all the class cards with it, but shit man it felt so easy. Breezed to 11-1 before dropping two straight games to topdeck flamestrike, a Priests Enhanc-o Mechano which promptly gave his two biggest creatures on the board taunt, followed by a mind control top deck.


And how could I forget a game I won after I had this happen to me:

oh and I had a random 1 in 24 occurrence happen during this run also. weird ass shit.

So I decided to try and make a decent Mage deck. Found a cheap list online that I could make by disenchanting all my non-Mage cards. So far, moved up to Rank 23 with very little resistance.

I'm at rank 17 right now, running whichever deck I need to in order to finish my dailies. Although that's only been Paladin/Druid/Hunter/Mage so far, so those are the only decks I have put together.

Then I'm continuing to suck at Arena, going at an average of 3 wins. Yuck.

Now, how do I make unstable portal work in a deck

you put it in a deck and play it and hope it wins you the game.

Let’s assume for a moment that a card existed in Hearthstone that read “2 mana: 90% chance win the game, 10% chance do nothing”. I think we’d unanimously agree that such a card would be overpowered. Now imagine a card that said “1% chance win the game, 99% chance do nothing”. We can agree that such a card would suck. That means that somewhere between 1% and 90% we have a balanced card. I think that number is somewhere around 15%. Unstable portal has about an 85% chance to hit a minion that costs 2 or more. 70% for 3 or more. In the event that you play unstable portal on turn two and get a minion costing 6+ (about a 20% chance), you will probably win the game on the spot. All you invested was one card and your second turn to have a boulderfist ogre in play on turn 3.

Will you get Grimscale oracle sometimes? Sure, but even in that scenario all you did was play a 2 mana 1/1. The vast majority of the time you’ll be breaking even or netting a huge tempo swing akin to Innervate or Wild Growth. Is it worse off the top of the deck later in the game? Sure, but still much better than Wild Growth would have been and still capable of rolling a 6 mana Onyxia. Unstable Portal will warp half of the games it’s played in around itself, and the extremely high chance for a free win makes it an auto-include in any mage deck. Hold on to your extra Portals so you can disenchant them for full dust once the nerf bat strikes. However, of all the cards on this list, Unstable Portal is the one I’m least sure about. The variance involved may very well make it unplayable. Only one way to find out, get out there and play!

If arena has taught me anything about that card is that shit like every 7 drop is bonkers good, and It's great with shit like Bomb Lobber, and just in general with damaged minions you can't heal.
