Dude, both BJ and Fritz are just cheap imitations of Internet Stranger. Back in my day, we went
Vote IS
and we liked it. And then we had to walk uphill both ways to get a lynch.
I replaced into Chess Mafia for 6 months, and all I got was a win and this lousy sig.

Zindaras lost his partner D1, figured out who the Doc was D2 but didn't kill him in order to gain the Doc's allegiance, then bluffed his way through a 3-man endgame after killing the Doc once he actually claimed. Very impressive (the Doc even protected Zindy the night he killed him).

Also, I support the Best Setup, though we already have Best Theme don't we? Or did that one go away?
Wow Zindaras, this is so sick.

Nominate Glork for Oscar, Protown.

Scrubs Smalltown, modded by Adele.

Without Glork, town would not have won. He pegged scum immediately on Day 1, and was practically confirmed throughout the game as the only player even resembling pro-town. His strategies won us the game, for sure.

I move that we remove the "Most Prolific" scummy from the pool, because especially nowadays, we don't need to throw additional incentives around for people to join extra games. People should only join however many games they enjoy playing, and can handle. No sense
encouraging
overactivity.

EDIT, AFTER HAVING ACTUALLY READ THE THREAD: That said, I would support a "Most Prolific Replacement," or something to that effect.

Good post -- I agree. If this award is encouraging you-know-who (and I think it might be) then the sooner it is abolished, the better. I would support any award for prolific replacer: perhaps as a more general "Services to the Site" award.

hmm, i dont think an award for replacing makes sense in tha context. Whilst having people to replace into your game is obviously good, its probably better to have those active people in your game to start with. But i agree that the prolific player award should probably go.

Having watched Most Prolific for a couple of years, I agree that it's our most useless Scummie currently in effect. All of the *good* aspects of being prolific are already covered by the Best Oscar/Professor Mafia awards, and if it's encouraging people to over-reach themselves, it's doing more harm than good. I remember as a judge, it was the one that was tacked on as an afterthought when all the other awards were done, because it seemed so pointless to us.

But it's usually less desirable to replace into a game than start it new. That's the point of recognizing players who replace.

I think that considering the problem we have with lurkers and semi-lurkers these days, if we just define "most prolific player" as "person who is one of the most active player in all of his games", that's a great thing to encourage with a scummy.

It's true. Not "most games you're in," but "mosts post/games".

It's still subject to abuse (some people post too much while saying nothing, and are quite annoying with) - perhaps "most consistent?", or some such for someone who never lurks, never disappears for long periods (at least not without a LA post about it), and is a consistent poster in all their games?

Wouldn't that make an awesome book, though?

Harry: Prepare to die, Dark scum!
Y-K-W: Harry it has been proven that you are not a wizard.
Harry: But I can do magic!
Y-K-W: Chewbacca lives on Endor.
Harry: eff it, I'm going home.

Ok. So, most prolific player should be someone who:

1. Has not been replaced in any games all year
2. Is a very active player in most or all of their games
3. Is generally a consistantly active player in all of their games.

And, while it probably shouldn't go to someone who's only been in like, say, 2 games all year, the number of games shouldn't really matter otherwise.

Sound good to everyone?

Dude, this is a Mafia forum, not a fan fiction forum...

Yos: Works for me. Replacement for unavoidable circumstance, where they let the mod know ahead of time, probably shouldn't count against them, at least once or twice.

How about a "Bulletproof" award for the player most likely to live long enough to be involved in the end game, even if they dont end up winning.
I have a degree in bullshit. I have patents on entire lines of bullshit. So don't sit here and feed me a line of bullshit and think that I'm not going to recognize it as one.

Cognito: maybe. A good player should know how to stay -just- scummy enough to avoid being at the top of the mafia hit list while still being useful and useful enough to make it into the endgame -- particularly useful when you have a named role. Doing this without lurking is an exercise for the reader.

That said, "most likely to die on night 1" isn't a bad award, exactly, and much more a compliment than an insult.

If they consistently get to end game and dont win, then I might agree with that statement, but I will have to disagree that the ability to get to end game is a reflection of poor mafiascum play.

Take Ibby, for instance. She always seemed to live long in her games... she consistently did well, and she was a very good player.

'Nuff said.
