You're completely right in the purpose of what I'm doing - you just need to search harder if you believe there's no town motivation in doing so.

Mastin, priding yourself on knowing theory doesn't mean you're right on everything theory. This --

In post 3559, mastin2 wrote:SK-like roles with BP playing as anything other than town are fucking morons.
Because as a serial killer who is bulletproof, you WANT the scum antagonizing you because you WANT one of them to flip scum (heck, you don't even need it to be via lynch--you're a damn serial killer; just "vig" the scum and if there's no vig in the game you might be able to claim vig for further towncred, having shot scum!), because scum pushing you and flipping scum = you were either being hardcore bussed or "aren't scum" = your survival chances increase exponentially.

-- is how I used to think, too. I agree that playing bulletproof SK this way isn't a bad strategy. I even played SK exactly this way before, killing scum and claiming vig, all the way to like D6 or something. But it's not the best strategy -- because townies get lynched all the time based on who the scum want to eliminate, and scum will want to get rid of a bulletproof SK as fast as possible. Anyway, I think you're missing my point which is, EVEN IF AP WAS PLAYING 100% PRO-TOWN, and EVEN IF THAT'S THE OPTIMAL STRATEGY, it doesn't mean the lynch was on town. Nor does it mean that AP's play wasn't scummy, because as I said earlier, third-party have to lie when they come under pressure (i.e. they know they're scum so arguing that they're not is lying).

Well, that's debatable.

Mastin, I'm sorry. I kept pushing on AP when you didn't want me to because a no lynch on Day 1 is one of the most abhorrent results that could possibly happen at the end of the day and I am willing to do pretty much anything in my power to prevent that from happening. I was frustrated with AP this game because my push on you was in a large part designed to draw AP back into the game based on what I learned about him when I met him in person and all that I accomplished was alienating myself from you and radio silence from him, and I couldn't completely let go of myself and trust you when my gut urged differently. I didn't mean to obstruct you specifically and I didn't mean to throw you off your game, but I didn't really see an alternative to the way yesterday went down that didn't act against my own principles.

No assumption needed.

I told my masonry this during the night, but the game's explicitly single-ball. I'd tell you why, but scum might get caught if I don't, sooooooooooooooooooo, not telling.

Oh, I'm not perfect on theory.
In particular, I'm rather prone to derping up my math, and making dumb miscalculations when I forget certain specifics. (e.g. forgetting that in vengeful, the vengeful doesn't get a shot in 3p lylo, which my gamebreaking plan relied on.)
I am, however, right.
I KNOW my theory.
It's my thing.
People consult with me on it still. People still respect me on it. People have, for two damn years, in spite of me technically not winning the scummy yet, referred to me as Professor Mafia because of it. Because theory is what I DO.

I'll fully admit to being a shit player.
I will own up to it.
Admit my mistakes upfront.
The reputation I have as having a massive ego and being incredibly arrogant is just as much fake as my reputation for walling: not without basis in reality, but VASTLY exaggerated; I know I suck.

But theory? Theory is the one.
ONE.
Thing I pride myself on.

I don't have any.

"Uhhh..."

Yeah, I effectively don't have any.
2014 was the year of the town role PM.
2015 has had a scumgame break the solid streak (I believe of 35 games IN A ROW as town), but that was replacing in to lylo, after all the work had already been done; all I had to do was to wait two or so days for town to vote town to win that game. So it doesn't count. You have to go back further.
Xmen doesn't count because I didn't play there.
171 doesn't count because I didn't truly play there.
What's that leave?

L4D, Attack on Titan, Paranoia (bonus points for playing scum amongst the scum, via that game's mechanic), maybe one other I can't recall off the top of my head, but that's pretty much it.
And know when those games were?
Oh, about this time last year.
Know when those 35 towngames were?
From then onward.

I repeat. I have no scumgame that you can use as being a scumgame. My play has just changed too much since then. There's some basic similarities, sure, yeah, but it's so foreign that you'd be better off flipping a coin than getting a read on me from my past games.
