I feel that overall, it doesn't make sense as an award category because unlike "Best scumteam," the individual performances of the players in the town matter very little. For instance someone could be having a below-average game and yet the town that they are in wins the award and everyone in it gets a scummy.
This causes:
Devaluation of the scummy: The scummy is a valuable award and a source of pride for the holder and the community. When you award it to a whole group of people without even considering their individual effort, it could lead to undeserving recipients receiving the award. The other recipients of other awards would be on the same level as the "Best Town" category for the purposes of Scummies Invitationals etc. This leads to a lowering of value of what having a scummy means and turns it from something to be earned to something that can be had purely due to the luck of the draw. Also, the choices this year for "Best Town" were very, very limited.

I propose awarding an individual award for best performance in a town victory. This would be distinct from the Best Mafia Catcher award as the latter is a Body-of-Work award while my proposal involves someone who performed best in a town win. It essentially means we have a "Best town" category. And in the category, after the best town win has been selected, the judges then select one person who was most instrumental in the win to be given that award.
Thoughts?
Eh, considering individual effort is something the judges should do when looking at the Best Town category, I feel. And I think this one is too similar to Paragon... though, yes, it is one game versus Body of Work, usually people get nominated for Paragon off of one game anyway.
Judges are free not to hand out an award if they don't feel any of the nominees are deserving.

worthy of discussion
now that Smooth Operator is gone, best town is the weakest award imo
but how do I backup my scummy-winning crap town performance if we edit it?
Holder of the Longest Continuous Weekly Mafiascum Post Record. 1 July 2012 - 16 Feb 2023
*It may be held by someone else if you discount the major downtime in 2012 and 2014, I'm not doing the research.
any particular reason why? I thought this was the suggestion thread? If you're going to veto something like that, an explanation would be nice so maybe I don't make any more suggestions.
town wins as a team, so town wins should only go to the TEAM that does the best
any PR that deserves an award for good play should have been on a winning town team
good PR play is already a consideration for Best Town

This is kind of why I was thinking about it, because sometimes a single player is so outstanding for one game, even though they lost. Things like best mafia catcher are body of work awards but I often wish I could help recognize a person who played incredibly for that one game, despite the rest of the team, perhaps, derping about and losing. It's hardly ever up to a single player to carry a team, often not very feasible, and of course it is a team game but a lot of games don't go that way. You don't get to choose your teammates but you do get to choose how you play the role you're given.
It's been discussed before, a decent amount. My own particular feeling is that it's just part of playing well - and feels a bit too specific. I suppose something like a godly display of vigging/doccing could also go into most memorable moment.
Please continue to suggest stuff, most of it is at least discussed seriously behind the scenes even.of we don't end up doing it.
are you thinking of me when you're with somebody else?
What about going the Emmys route? They have six categories for Outstanding Lead Actor/Actress in a Drama/Comedy/Miniseries or Movie, and another six for Outstanding Supporting.
These could be translated into Outstanding Town Player in a Micro/Mini/Large (or Normal/Theme), and another six for Outstanding Mafia.
And you could win those without having won the game, much like the Emmys can be won for actors/actresses not in the winning drama/comedy/miniseries.

best player on a losing cause has been discussed before.

It's redundant IMO.
no not
for
losing - just for being exceptional in a single game as an individual player, regardless of the outcome. whether they win with their team or not is irrelevant in how i'm thinking about it.
