I've never even played 5e. Unless there's much more demand otherwise, it will probably be 3.5 so that the characters from FGs game can continue over.

My HotD group (around 5th level) is about to leave Waterdeep for the last leg of the campaign. Everyone loves the Paladin, and the Warlock is about to summon her patron demon into the world.

Pursuant to discussion with FG, we're co-opting this thread for meatworld game summaries for the junkies like us who want to read about your super sweet character and his mad skills.

I'm involved in five games atm, so here's a quick summary of each because its 1:30 am and I'm still at work and I need something to do so as not to fall asleep.

Spoiler: Princes of the Apocalypse, SPOILERS
System:
D&D 5e
DM:
me
Players:
six players, age 23 and over, experienced in RPGs
Characters:
Alba- CG Human Noble Monk, Way of Shadow
Erevan (Jingle)- NG Half-Elf Criminal Warlock of the Fiend
Silas Widebottom- N Halfling Entertainer Rogue, and his sidekick Gus the Paladin who is definitely not a pony wearing makeup
Aphix- CN Half-Elf Urchin Ranger
Joyce- LG Human Entertainer Paladin of Sune
John- NG Human Entertainer Light Cleric of Sune, married to Joyce

Week One: After their instrumental assistance in the reopening of the Phandelver's Pact mines near Phandalin, the party was drawn east to the Dessarin Valley by circumstance and rumors of unrest. Erevan had a vision of great catastrophe to come, Alba and Aphix heard tales of bandits, Joyce received a letter asking her to intervene with the wayward scion of a Whaterdhavian noble house, and John believed the Sumber Hills in the middle of the valley might match an old map he found hidden in the lining of a book in the mine.

The characters completed a three hundred mile journey to the town of Red Larch on the western end of the valley. When they arrived, the town was in chaos. The elders had all been run out of town following the revelation that they had been involved in a conspiracy with a shadowy figure to murder troublemakers and outsiders, and a separate conspiracy to steal the plot from the movie Hot Fuzz.

Additionally, some of the players were approached by their contacts in the Lords' Alliance and the Emerald Enclave, who are concerned about the disappearance of a convoy of Dwarven diplomats that vanished between Beliard, in the northeast of the valley, and Summit Hall, to the southeast.

Asking around town uncovered a number of leads, including a shepherd who claimed to have discovered fresh graves in the Sumber hills. The exhumed bodies yielded armor matching members of the missing delegation and a set of mysterious stony armor and black feathered robes. From the grave site, the players noticed a spire about two miles distant, circled by what appeared to be large birds. They trekked to the tower and rang the doorbell. The occupants identified the tower as Feathergale Spire and themselves as the Feathergale Society of Knights, an elite group of flying riders. The PCs arrived at the tower just in time for a feast, during which the Knights told tales of their exploits against the barbarians and bandits menacing the valley and questioned the party about their own adventures. During the feast, a lookout interrupted with news of a manticore near the tower, and the Knights abandoned the feast for a grand hunt. The leader of the Knights, Thurl Merosska, offered up a gold ring to whoever defeated the beast. The characters joined the hunt on borrowed hippogriffs. Within moments of taking to the air, they spotted the monster. The party shot it out of the sky before the Knights could join the fight.

More later, I lost a post and cannot summon the enthusiasm to reproduce all of it right now.

Here's a summary of the RL campaign I am DMing for singer, quadz, fro99er, and notscience. It's brief (they're only level 3 so far) but so far so good. :)

Spoiler: Forgotton Realms D&D 3.5 Campaign
DM - Glork

Characters:
singersigner - Lia, Female Elf CLR 3
quadz - Rorin, Dwarf Male DRD 3 --- [Animal Companion - Knid, Small Monstrous Spider]
fro99er - Petra Serac, Female Human SRC
notscience - Kalabash, Male Elf MNK 3

These four characters hail from the Silver Marches (an area in the northwest of the continent Faerun), in or near a small hamlet named Sefildhir. The community consists mainly of humans, elves, and half-elves and sits near a densely wooded area in the northern portion of the North Woods, merely a couple of days' travel from from Citadel Felbarr in the Rauvin Mountains. To its west is the larger town of Quaevarr, which itself is just north of the metropolis Silverymoon.

At the onset of the campagin, a town hall meeting is held because merchant caravans to and from Sefildhir have been under attack from goblin raiders. Several traders have lost their lives, and caravans have been pillaged and/or destroyed by this sudden aggression from the goblins. Our four adventurers agree to pose as merchants in an attempt to lure the goblins into attacking. The operation is successful, as a trio of goblins and their dog companions attempt to ransack the "caravan," only to be defeated by the party. One of the goblins escapes, but leaves a trail of blood which the party is able to track towards the goblin camp. Along the way, they battle some wolves which attack them in the dense forest. As they work their way closer to the mountains and the land around them becomes hilly and sparse, they stumble upon the camp. Rorin's animal companion, Knid, sets out to scout about the camp, but the monsrous spider is spotted by two patrolling guards and is forced to retreat to the party, at which point a battle ensues. A quartet of goblins, a hobgoblin warrior, and a hobgoblin mage are the only inhabitants of the camp at the time, indicating another series of raids in progress. That said, after a lengthy and dangerous battle, the party emerges victorious. They loot the camp and put it to the torch. However, some of the loot provides a potentially alarming situation, which has them returning to town to consult their resident employer, Lord Wilfred du Schnozzle.

Upon returning to Lord du Schnozzle, the party discusses the loot they found. A pair of scrolls and a pair of potions, which normally wouldn't be much cause for concern, were found with the insignia of the nebulous Red Wizards. This magocratic organization is led by a number of powerful wizards, each of whom have different philosophies on how to run their nation of Thay. While Thay itself is very far away, the Red Wizards have a presence all over the continent, as they establish trading enclaves with countless towns and cities near and far. Through these enclaves, they produce potions, scrolls, and mundane items to trade. However, it is suspected that some of the more conquest-oriented members of this organization may be establishing the means to mass an unstoppable army of mages whose power can rule all of Faerun. The party seeks to find out how these goods fell into the hands of the goblins. Were they simply claimed as bounty from a previous caravan raid? Or have the Red Wizards of the Silver Marches entered into a nefarious agreement with the goblin horde which has become increasingly bold and aggressive in their raids in recent months?

At the start of the next sesesion, they will begin their journey to Quaevarr, where the nearest Red Wizard enclave stands.

Oh man my guys ran into a red wizard in Lost Mines. He was a necromancer whose undead guards were upsetting the locals, but not attacking anyone.

The cleric couldn't remember how his god feels about undead, so the character took a few moments to pray while the player flipped through a sourcebook. Silas attempted to argue ethics with him and was magically silenced.

Erevan negotiated his departure from the region and some coin in exchange for a small favor. Right when he's finalizing the deal, the cleric shouts "YOU'RE AN ABOMINATION" and engulfs the hilltop in a fireball. When the fire clears, he charges through the ring of zombies and beats the necromancer to death, leaving his party to handle the remaining undead.

It's almost certainly just a casualty stemming from
rule of cool
though.

It doesn't make much sense that a necromancer at that level would have no way to deal with a simple melee attacker, let alone casually talk and negotiate with bunch of people who apparently has the strength to be a threat to him without some kind of backup plan.

Scroll of Fireball, but he's a light cleric so it's a domain spell for him at 5th.

FG it was a side encounter at 3rd level, so he was definitely not a boss fight.

In last nights session not a lot wound up happening. The party was hired to escort an important trade cart to Silverymoon via Quaevarr, and wound up in a lengthy fight with a couple of mephits who were trying to tax the traders by blocking the road. They got to Quaevarr safely after that and will be dealing with the Red Wizards next week.

Just started a new 5e campaign that was supposed to be a one-off but has gotten extended to a 2nd session. Playing as a halfling warlock who's a bit touched in the head because her pact is with the Great Old One.

It's spectacular and I am having a blast RPing her.
