C9 is clearly slumping (though I'm not sure that I can say that they're unable to climb back), but CLG is seriously coming on the rise and TSM is undoubtedly stronger than ever and certainly the strongest NA team right now. TiP is starting to come together really well, and once T8, TL, or Gravity can start to pull in some more wins that'll be a pretty solid four teams going into the playoffs.

P-EDIT: He's their rock, a sturdy place to shelter while times are rough. He may get some carry games as Lissandra or Rumble, but when Dyrus is steady, TSM is doing well.

Though, Quickshot (or one of the analysts) made a fair point about WE: They got here as the last place LPL team, and with two subs. That's pretty damn good. That'd be like Coast coming in and managed to reach the finals against GE. (yes I know that's even more unlikely, but it's for comparison.)

I will say, TSM's continued success is a testament to Reginald's dedication and intelligence. I'm not a TSM fan, but I'm still super happy for them.

Lowest KDA Ratio among top laners in NA.

Most Gold per Minute among top laners in NA.

And if you think that value comes from TSM winning everywhere else and getting objectives, ZionSpartan is the lowest GPM in NA, and the highest KDA. So it's not even about TSM winning more frequently (only one more win than CLG) or taking more objective focus (CLG is hugely objective focused), its that Dyrus knows how to play effectively from behind.

Funny enough, this sort of happened before. GoodGameUniversity joined NA LCS in the first spring split and despite being 6th place or something after standings, beat every team ahead of them to play TSM in the finals. They lost 3-2.

Why don't we see GGU anymore? Cause they were rebranded into team coast.

Teams try and try to kick him and keep him down but they usually end up having their toe feel like shit from kicking a rock so many times.

Dyrus turns every lane into a farm lane. Gpm makes him look better than he is - you have to use relative gpm

Right, but what's the current top lane meta?

Maokai, Sion, Rumble, Lissandra(she's making migrations to midlane) and occasionally Irelia.

Most of those champions aren't what I'd call "carry" champions, and all of them for the most part are weak laners.

Couple that with the fact that 2v1s are common right now, being able to outfarm your opponent is a huge boon. Being a stable rock in a meta where your role is literally being relagated to bitch duty, is a huge boon.

besides, all relative GPM shows is how valuable, in terms of being given gold and items a player is TO THEIR TEAM.

So for example, if you have a player who might have the highest KDA in NA (Zionspartan) and is known for playing carry top laners (Zionspartan) then you might end up having an enormous "relative GPM" (ZionSpartan).

And that's not currently what matters. In the currrent meta, top laners are the role that is meant to receive LESS gold than normal, not more.
