Every time I read ns, my gut screams scum. Even though he's been a regular in the thread, he's mostly been throwing one liners that are about what's being currently talked about, but without actually advancing anything. He keeps asking (I know Town can be wrong too) he's been wrong about everything that we now know to be true. He wanted Taly dead, defended Lufan's wagon

I think Shadowcat is more likely to be Town. The way they went after Lufan looked real to me.

I could pvote any of Skold, Zymf, or ZZZX, just because.

I'm pretty sure WN, Zelink, Ank, and Mika are Town. Gaiden's a maybe Town.

I've no clue, really, on T&L.

Have I mentioned you're my strongest Town read ATM? You probably know him better than I do, but I'll keep an IGMEOY on him.

Even if he is scum, I don't think that's what it "indicates" at all (and especially not clearly). I could, for example, picture a scenario where he went to the main index, saw unread messages on the PT forum and thought, for whatever reason, he'd accidentally been given access to that PT. This doesn't necessarily denote access to another PT.

Except that you can't see unread message markers from the main index, and nor can you see them by clicking "view unread posts", because private topics don't show up there either. He had to go into that part of the forum. Going there to explore is quite understandable for a new player but he said that the unread symbol being there was the reason he went there in the first place (582), which it can't have been.

Lufan's posts read newb, but not newtown. I'm ok with voting there. I'll second the request for lufan to claim.

The "Private Topics" subforum is orange (or whatever it is in other skins, I haven't checked) even if you have no unread posts because it registers unread posts in topics you don't have access to (or something like that - I don't know if there's some other reason).

Go mark all the topics in the "completed games" subforum as read, go back to the main index, and it'll still show unread topics regardless of whether you're in any PTs that have unread messages.

It's not overly important now, but it's one of the reasons I could see lufan's explanation as potentially true.

Huh, I just went and checked to be sure, but, I marked all topics as read on the PT and Completed sections of that subforum, and even then I see the same gold bullet marker on it (the same i see on the other forums where i do actually have unread topics) so I don't think that's how he got there

you can check "mark topics read" and "mark subforums read" and it stops being gold.

You'd need to actually do that, though, it's not a default thing.

When I said that you can't see unread message markers I was referring to the "View first unread post" flag. I never actually noticed that the bullet changed colour because I always just look for the flags to see which topics have new posts.

No, they didn't. All they said had been brought up already. Lufan was doomed once I brought out my secret and bussing was the optimal move, which is exactly what that looks like.

There is no unread symbol unless you get inside the Private Topic subforum. Which you had no reason to do since as a newbie you don't know what Private Topics are.
