But only three champs in 2 years have been insanely OP on release...

3 out of 10 ain't bad. The thing they did with Yasuo and Lucian was give them baby buffs and a bunch of bug fixes and that's when they became OP. Aatrox was strong but not overly so. They left him untouched for 6 patches. Jinx, Rek'Sai, and Braum were all OP but even out of those 3 only, Only Jinx was really notable unbalanced.

still, the 4 forlast champions were on top of the foodchain for their role in high level games. A kalista player is to be feared, pulls bans just for being able to play that champ well. Azir is still something to work around at least (even post nerfs), seen edg's vs skt's finals and how pawn showcasing a counterpick influenced that. Reksai is the only survivor of the jungle item change, and became the jungle pick over the course of MSI. Gnar is the only one really toned down to the point that toplaners only fall back on him because they had practice on him for so long, maybe no longer super viable at high level, but was pick/ban for quite a while.

And it took a little before people got used to kalista or gnar etc, so idk, I'm a believer that bard will be no different. Just like reksai's sonar thingy is silly, or most of kalista's abilities, also bard gets to do some really silly stuff. All it needs is for someone to master him.

So I suspect riot's sales department is happy with champion design as it is, given the placement of the forlast 4 champs in the meta, that seems like a "healthy" powercreep for them.

Excluding Bard, I can't remember the last time a champion was released in any kind of balanced state.

oh

I don't think it's really reasonable to expect Riot to release champions that are completely balanced given how many champs already exist at this point + how even minor changes to items can throw things out of whack + how meta shifts can affect who is being played at any given point and how.

What I'm trying to say is (AGAIN IMO) Ekko as he exists on PBE is outside a 'normal' under-to-overpowered range you'd expect a champion to be in upon release and would dominate his competition assuming similar skill levels.

I did the Ashe math wrong earlier. She benefits most from normal runes until you get a pickaxe.

Disappointing. :(

ok, I hadn't had a good look at reworked ashe before, so might as well.

Passive is funny. She basically gets 10% crit chance on auto's past the first. IE is probably even slightly worse than it was before given that the free "crit chance" is unmodified by the bonus crit damage.

Her q is the amazing bit, they moved away from the original concept. She gets real scaling. Before she was goaded into the pure carry build by the lure of a free crit, now you've got a real reason here with the active that gives her 90% bonus damage in a prolonged engagement. Like, what? I get it's conditional and not quite rapid fire (longer cd in real application, 1 sec shorter, 20% less damage), but trist isn't supposed to be a utility adc, ashe was, right?

So... what was given up? Some slowing power early, hawkshot cd early (but it got a lot better).

Idgi. You picked ashe for the slows and the initiate, and were happy with the damage she'd bring anyway with ie/pd. Now somehow she's got semi lategame carry scaling on top of the utility?

The crit damage only applys as a Percentage multiplier to the crit chance though.

I still think Full crit damage rune page, a high crit chance/AD build, and just clean house late game as a power house.

If I did the math correctly, crit damage runes are worse than crit chance runes until you have 100% crit chance. It's really pretty disappointing.

Like, since they scale with each other, you'd expect that some combination of the rune types should be ideal given that you want to go that route. But it's sadly not the case. :(

Yes, but that's always how it is.

Normal formula: Damage multiplier = 1 + (Critical chance × (1 + Bonus critical damage))

Ashe's formula: BONUS DAMAGE IF FROSTED: 10 + (%Critical Strike Chance × (1 + Bonus Criticial Strike Damage)) % AD

2 caveats on my opinion of Ashe, played her only 1 time and played her against significantly outclassed competition.

Aside from that, she seems ridiculously OP. I feel she already had a claim to the best ADC title and now she gets to double her slow and steroid smash you? And both Volley and Hawkshot are better moves? She basically a tank disintegrating, all seeing, team slowing, opportunistic engaging beast of a carry. She's the ric flair of ADCs. She's the girl with the golden spoon. Wooooooo

I also don't think her slow got worse early, because it's always on and she gets free critical chance that's also always on. So it's probably better if you can orbwalk.

I never said she was bad? I said she was already probably the best? And I agree she never was explicitly bad but she was weak when the Meta revolved around the early game smashers, especially when blue side could do golems.

I like the tighter volley, gives it better range when cleaning up.

Black Cleaver is almost as good for her personal aa damage as Last Whisper if you manage her Focus passive well, and it gives 400 HP, 20% CDR, and benefits teammates. ^_^
