Shogunis becoming one of my favourite heavier games. Had a five-player last night where the top four were all within three points of each other, everyone having moments of triumph and total despair. Always come out of it thinking I could do a little better if I played again right now. Highly recommended.#greenshirtthursdays-

It is, and it's amazing. The cases are very well written, the clues are absurd and hilarious, and with a group that's into it (as every group I've played with so far has been), it's just such good fun in a short timeframe. It's worth a play."When playing a game, the goal is to win, but it is the goal that is important, not the winning." -Reiner Knizia

I've played a lot of doomtown solo now, only a couple times with friends. The people Im hoping will like Ill get to play with tonight.
The movement rules make a lot of sense to me, though. It makes town square a valuable location, the deeds next to your home easier protect and prevents rounds from just going on forever because you run out of moves.
The complexity is on par with others in the genre: Netrunner, game of thrones lcg, etc.. but certainly more complex than most board games admittedly. Still, I wouldn't call it 'needless' its just a product of the genre. The extra in is for /in-

Kingdom Death is AMAZING and fucking difficult as hell. I feel it's unparalleled when it comes to co-op board games.
Waited years for it since the kickstarter and it was completely worth it. Sad that non-backers are going to struggle to ever get to play it though, since it's pretty hard to get your hands on now and the price point is pretty heavy in comparison to if you backed it. :/
I really hope the people on SU&SD will get a chance to play it or give their thoughts on it.

UT & I got a chance to play today -- the first production copy ever made! The game's designer came on our podcast and talked a lot about it. Guys, this game is FUCKING GREAT. Holy shit.green shirt thursdays-

my copy ofVault Warsfinally came in... it's pretty fucking great. The only qualm I have is that the equipment cards are rather underwhelming and don't feel like they impact the game that much, but I love the design on this.
Speaking of Jon Gilmour, we also finally picked upDead of Winter. Played it once. Took a loooong time. I might just be over games that take longer than 90 minutes. But I really liked the mechanics in play.green shirt thursdays-

I don't think Dead of Winter should take that long; might just have been because it was your first play?
Been continually introducing my cousins to new games, since they've decided to take it up as a hobby. So now I've got them hooked on Galaxy Trucker. Thinking about bringing Betrayal at House on the Hill next, but not sure. One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.-

Solo run where I controlled 4 characters. Won by closing all gates simultaneously turn 4 - took 30 minutes including setup.
Fastest game I'd ever won. I sat there confused for like 5 minutes thinking "how the fuck did that just happen."
The game goes much faster if you're playing with people who are all experienced. A lot of slowness in Arkham Horror comes from people just not knowing which cards to take, etc.
