The resolution was obvious. It was pretty clear who was going to die in the episode from the beginning and that the crows would win.

Maybe so. I just felt so detached from the wall episode. The build up to the Walker fight got me interested in the resolution. The wall scene felt like an action scene for the sake of having an action scene. On the other hand, minor details in the last episode like the closing of the gates forcing people out were poetic to a degree. The lone boat sailing away at the end and the walker making one last epic silent gesture to show how effortless it all was left me wanting more.
I liked the fight at the wall last season as well. edit: I liked Hardhome more, tho
I'm probably most pleasantly surprised about the fact that the whole hardhome thing is pretty much a D&D creation and not something that happened in the books. Its the first real deviation that doesn't feel like something lesser than the source material, IMO.

I had a little bit of hope for her when I realized that it was the last boat, so that the "I'll see you soon" kiss of death might have instead been a "Lie to those I love" moment.

We actually commented on that last night when it was over, but I'm more willing to forgive that, especially given that she was actually a mother and her love for her child was established earlier in the episode.

I think that's my biggest complaint about how her character played out. They only introduced her as a likable wildling so that they could kill her, she didn't feel much like a wilding in a lot of ways.

Huh?
She was kicking ass then a bunch of undead children show up, she hesitates and they death tackle her.

That line was kinda cringeworthy for me, actually.
at least he's not BREAKING THE WHEEL or w/e that was
Yeah they were both kinda cringe inducing dialogues. But at least Daeny's line made sense in the context of the story, whereas Ramsay's line was just shoehorned in there to force a reference to the title of the book in a way that completely misses the point of what the actual "feast for crows" really was.
