Fourthed. Nowadays I tend to wait until Yosarian2 posts in a MD thread and then just say "I agree with Yosarian2." You've all seen me do it.

Nominate:
Jalyn
Award:
The Clones We Are Looking For (Super-Duper Replacement Person)

Of my 5 completed games, she replaced into two, and played strongly in each, and also started contributing almost immediately upon replacing in. The games are Mafia in Theoville and Friends and Enemies. We did not share alignment in either game.

She has replaced into other games that I am aware of. Because she is a strong player, I asked to join a game that was queuing up, but she declined saying that she pretty much
only
replaces into games.

Even if you don't feel like seconding this nomination, please mention if she has replaced and played well in any of your games. I think this is a difficult award to find the right person for, but it is an important achievement to give recognition for.

Nominate Sarcastro for Best SK for his performance in Consulmaker Mafia. He made it to endgame only to lose to unnkable scum. Great performance.

Edit: Adel, I'm going to put that down for the Behind the Scenes Award.

I can see the use in thirding something, but beyond thirding, I really don't see the relevance anymore.

As an aside, I'll second Stoofer for Best Mod.

Yeah, but CES has already said essentially that SKs in his game have the deck stacked against them. [/has been a SK in a game of his that was terribly unbalanced against me]

I completely support Jalyn. It is difficult for replacements to be active immediately, but Jalyn does it, and does a great job. And her 'only replacing in' policy is something that must be applauded and recognised.

I feel I should note that the main reason I only replace into games is because I actually can't stand day 1 random/jokey nonsense. I figure that makes for a win/win situation, I don't get lynched for not bothering with the first 4-5 pages and I help keep a game from dying.

Nominate: Mr Stoofer for Most Enjoyable Large Game for Mafia 60: Face-to-Face
.
I think everyone in the game enjoyed it immensely. Thesp said it was one of the most enjoyable games he had ever played in, MBL seemed incredibly upbeat and happy about the game as a whole despite losing closely at the end, and it really had all of the drama that you could possibly hope for. Oh yeah... and I myself had a lot of fun, even if it was horribly stressful as a player, at times.

Nominate: Thesp for Best Mafia Catcher

Mafia 60: Face-to-Face (link above) and Two-Headed Mafia 2 are the examples of his play that I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more.
In Mafia 60, he latched onto one scum (CDB) as early as D1, stuck to another scum (CES) once CDB went down, and had the final scum (MBL) on his radar throughout most of the game. I thought his play was easily the most stellar of the game
Two-Headed 2, he replaced into the game though he only made three posts before being nightkilled, he latched onto TWO of the three Mafia-pairs (Glork/MoS and Adele/Pooky) there. In fact, he was nightkilled immediately after replacing into the game in part because we felt he was way too big a threat to our survival.

I heartily second the former nomination. I am humbled and honored by the latter. :)

If we're making any attempt revamping the Proflic award, I'd like to nominate Glork for most prolific. Crossreferencing with the last update of the MeMe 6000 thread (from 12/7/06), Glork has had around 3000 posts so far this year. I find it likely that Glork has the most words posted in mafia games for the last year.
I replaced into Chess Mafia for 6 months, and all I got was a win and this lousy sig.

@Thok I think PJ would own the "most words posted" category.

Emphatic Fourth of Thesp in the BMC Category.

PJ has about 1300 posts in the time period measured. As verbose as PJ is, I don't think he is 3 times as verbose as Glork.

Though It would be certainly fun to analyze.

How many random posts of PJ/Glork would we have to take to get a low margin of error for estimating average post length?

This whole debate is silly. Everyone knows that Quality is way more important than Quantity, which is why Thesp is going to win Paragon and Prolific had become uncool.

I was going to turn this into a really long post, but I am tired and lazy.

As I've said before, I don't think prolific needs a spot in the Scummies.

As an aside, seriously,
stop
nominating (or offering to second, etc) me for stuff unless you're willing to back it up. Out of morbid curiosity, I checked my stats for the year of '07 and in normal forum games my record is 1-10 (wins-losses), and if you count SoaP it's 1-11. Hardly deserving of an award.

*sucks on pacifier*

Edit: And even though it's a complete formality, I support the nomination for Yos2 in the best performance for mafia... I had to sit and try to think about the game objectively, but his discussions on AIM were brilliantly done, and he definitely deserves it.

Seconding Sarcastro for best SK. I agree he was probably screwed out of a draw or a win by the setup, though it isn't certain (who can say what the nightkill choices were going to be, or who Rand might have protected?) but whatever the case, he did a great job.

Everyone who wins a scummy should be required, as a condition for accepting the award, to all play in a game together. Like a Mafiascum All-Star Game or w/e. Kind of pointless since the awards are so arbitrarily invented, but I for one would like to see it.
