also they were 2-2 with sivir against ROCCAT in the playoffs, so not terrific.

sivir wins during season: ROCCAT, CWs, Gambit, Elements

sivir losses during season: H2k, Fnatic

Wins against top 3 seeds with: Corki (Origen)

UoL are just worse than ori/h2k, imo. They could upset h2k, though. I don't think the gap there is insurmountably huge.

yeah I should have been clear I'm more talking about their losses than their wins w/r/t the historical split.

What I'm saying is that when unicorns lose against a team they "shouldn't have lost to", it's usually a pretty significant factor that vardags isn't on corki or sivir. It's not that OG/h2k are part of the "teams they shouldn't lose to" It's that NOT having corki/sivir is a big part of what gives them these embarrassing losses against e.g SK.

H0R0's addition to the team, PoE being smarter with his tear/athenes builds, hyli's improved roaming, etc. are the reasons that I think UoL can beat Og/H2K, PROVIDED they're not weighed down with vardags being off-adc, which has been a key factor in all of their "big losses". If that makes sense.

Seems more like Vardags needs to add 1-2 more champs before the gauntlet.

Atm I just want to see Fnatic, TSM, or CLG win worlds atm. I really want either NA or Europe to upset the other regions, this will likely be the Worlds where they might stand
some
chance at doing so, so one can dream. I will always be optimistic for them.
I swear I'm trying my best

Nah, I think this might be the year China finally wins. I have my doubts that NA can match up to the far east.

I think you said the same thing last time lol.

But I really don't think TSM or CLG have a chance. FNC might though.

An NA team winning worlds seems kind of laughable right now, but at least one should make it out of groups. I think that may have as much to do with luck of group draw as anything else though.

If TSM's lucky they can draw no Koreans again!

Depends on the team, though.

At worlds last year I believe the main reason they lost the games against SK and SHRC were because of complete overcofidence (in late-game and pick/bans, respectively). Of course, if they get someone like EDG then they might very well be fucked, but if not then there's a chance.

Except EDG just lost a 3-0 to LGD and a 3-1 to IG, and are looking weak and vulnerable.

They came third this split and may miss worlds.

Someone
like
EDG, specifically the EDG that became the 1st non-Korean team to beat SKT in a series at MSI. Sure, EDG themselves may not be the ones to do it, but I think it's going to be Korea vs. China vs. Fnatic, pretty much. With a very slight chance of AHQ and TSM getting a shot or two in.

Yeah, I dont see TSM having any chance this year. Unlike last year, China overall has become a contender to win. LGD, QG and EDG all look strong, SKT and kt also look consistent, and with Fnatic looking strong as well, who is TSM gonna beat? Ahq? Yoe? Origen? They all look as strong if not better. Its hard to believe TSM can manage considering they havent really improved the past year other then Dyrus and Santorim looking a little better in the playoffs.

yeah scope has it I think. LGD, SKT, EDG probably the three strongest teams (I don't read much into EDGs recent mini-slump), with QG and KT right behind.

I think the best the west can hope for is Fnatic getting a forgiving enough placement to hit semis.

Still, the fact that Korea vs. Korea, China vs. China, or Korea vs. China are all plausible finals is still pretty cool!

apparently worlds format (translated from chinese): https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegend ... announced/

Pretty similar to last year. Pot 1 will be the #1 seeds from china, korea, eu and na. pot 3 will have #3 seeds from EU and NA plus the two wildcards. Pot 2 will be everyone else. Every group will have a pot 1, two pot 2, and a pot 3 team.

Which I think is exactly the same as last year.

The big difference seems to be they're slightly randomizing the quarterfinals in order to remove incentives to tank in your last matches.

If you're a fan of pageantry is that the groups will be live drawn and broadcasted.

Koo will probable be the third seed from Korea, who is also looking strong. Fnatic should consider themselves lucky if they get to semi's at all, and that sorta counts for all NA/EU regions getting out of groups in general. It shouldn't spoil the fun though, because I rather watch a competetive China vs Korea quarters then seeing a NA/EU team get stomped in the quarters by a Chinese/Korean team

I can't find how China determines their seeds, but they should be EDG/QG/LGD? Unless IG somehow sneaks in there.

LGD is #1 china seed. #2 and #3 are meaningless as both get put into pot 2.

sucks to be Russian. For some reason rather than being in the wild card turkey tournament, they are in the wild card chile tournament. I guess it's because it makes the numbers work out, but still!

Rather unsurprising result. H2K is just a more cohesive team. Maybe if UoL had a more central figure or at least didn't have such a predictable early game, or something.

(Zor, if I guess H2K and Liqud, can I plz get points??)
