Here is the deal.

I am going to book this tomorrow as one of the large cottages we usually get is now taken. This means we get our one remaining large and a small, it isn't ideal, but it's not overly a problem. I have to pay around £280 deposit, (more if we need a second small one) which as a jobless bum is not great. So here is the deal.

We need, where possible, confirmation. It's a non refundable deposit, and Im pretty sure we will get use out of two cottages. So I am happy to book those. The third Im only happy to book if we need it and I won't do that until I have enough confirmation to warrant it. But obviously the longer we wait, the less likely it will be available. I understand that 5 and a half months might be way to early for some and Im sorry!

The second thing is, I need cash, if you are willing to help with the deposit, then great! Please help. I can give people my email for paypal and then that money will come off the price of the cottages later down the line. I have a number of people willing to help already, so wouldn't work out to be that much but if I can spread the cost around a bit then its less of a pain for everyone involved.

Sorry guys, sucky news BUT it's solvable!

I should point out, the cash thing is completely optional at the moment. It is purely to cover costs and will come out of the final cost.

CONFIRMED BEING THERE

Send me your email and I'll ping some money towards deposit asap. I'm moving on Saturday though so will have two lots of rent and deposits out of my bank, leaving me with no money for a while...so it may be after my deposit from my old place has cleared/come back to me.

Ok, a different place has been provisionally booked. I'm really excited about it. Same dates, nicer looking place, all fun.

I am being indecisive and lame. Plan without me. New cottage location is a long way but I am supposed to be going to a LARP event that weekend I think which I hadn't realised and if it's anywhere close (site is also in flux) I could swoop in and say hi. Otherwise probably not.

I am also really too busy to play mafia to the quality level I prefer. I should spectate. If you see me in more than one game tell me off! Also invite me to cool games to spectate. I will bring cupcakes! <3

How much sightseeing are we willing to indulge in? It'd be nice for the natives to show off the nation a bit if I'm flying halfway across the planet, but I don't know what all the plans are, and seeing the people is the main point anyway.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

The main issue we found in the cabins was transport to/from the lodges - we don't have enough cars/big enough cars for all of us to fit in, usually, and taxis cost money!

I'm sure it's something we can explore further, though.

Well, if the week consists of playing BSG in the English Countryside, I'll consider it a win; getting to see some cool English shit would be a nice bonus, though.

Also, what is your avatar? For a long time, I thought the grasshopper was smoking a cigarette, but it actually appears the grasshopper is playing cricket and knocking one for six up an unsuspecting spider?

It's a cricket playing cricket. DRK designed it for me. I believe the spider is bowling/fielding.

Being as close to Blackpool as we're going to be, we probably ought to see if it's feasible for us to do a day trip.

Blackpool? Try upping the chlorine content.

Yeah, I'm going to be severely disappointed if I don't get to see a bit of Blackpool. If others weren't interested I'd be looking at getting a bus/taxi there one day.

Tere - that's fine! It's a shame that this place is a bit further away but we're hoping it will make up for it by also being fancier. If you are coming for just a day or two then I'm sure we can fit you in regardless so you can let us know closer to the time. Also I am now intrigued to know more about this LARP that you do....

Sudo - If you have the time, would you consider extending your trip a bit beforehand? We can definitely try and fit in a bit of sightseeing during the meet, but as Nexus said, transporting ~16 people can be tricksy, so it would probably only be the local area. However, as I've said before, if any international visitors want to arrive a few days early, we'd be happy to put you up and take you around for a bit - and quite possibly some other scummers would join us. Extending after the meet might also be okay but we've already got plans for a boardgaming event for the weekend 1-3 April, so you'd have to come to that first.

Also I have a couple of friends who have expressed an interested in coming previously. I haven't invited them yet but I hope it's okay with everyone if I do?

I believe this is the current guestlist...

Depending on your return date, I have a late flight out of Gatwick, and could be swayed towards leaving in the morning and whirlwind-sightseeing London that afternoon/evening.
