That does mean that copying something like Spike Feeder is pointless, since you don't get the +1/+1 counters and it dies immediately.
How does that accord with copying a copy? If I Clone your Clone, then I get whatever your Clone was copying, not a copy of Clone itself. I assume this as something to with Timestamps, since I think they're both Layer 1 effects?
Planeswalkers are treated as having an ETB effect that says “This permanent enters the battlefield
with a number of loyalty counters on it equal to its printed loyalty number.”
A copy of a permanent still has to enter the battlefield and will still have any ETB effects work, whether it's a replacement effect or an ETB trigger. So you still get the counters if it's Clone specifically. If something is already on the battlefield and becomes a copy of Spike Feeder, it will just die immediately
As far as Cloning a Clone, you do get the copy of whatever the first Clone is Cloning, because it's never actually anything else. It has a particular set of copiable effects, and according to the CR, a copy's copiable values are whatever it has copied.jdodge1019: hasjghsalghsakljghs is from vermont. vermont is made of liberal freaks and cows. he's not a liberal. thus he is a cow

Clone effects are pretty simple in most instances I think. You just get a copy of the card as it's printed. The only oddities are if you clone a clone you copy what it cloned not the clone itself, and a clone can't copy something it enters play the same time as. So if you living end a clone into play it's just going to die.Taking a break from the site.-

So if I copy, I get a copy, and any copy of my copy is a copy of the copy that I'm copying, unless it's a Clone, in which case the Clone is the copy and not a Clone, so the copy is the copy and not the Clone, unless the Clone is a Clone, is which case the copy isn't a copy or a Clone and both Clone and copy are destroyed. One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.-

I play Modern when I find the time. That's currently: In between rounds or beforehand on Standard night, and occasionally on Fridays if I don't feel like doing Sealed.jdodge1019: hasjghsalghsakljghs is from vermont. vermont is made of liberal freaks and cows. he's not a liberal. thus he is a cow

Less pricey than legacy and vintage at least.-

funny you say that, I'm having proxy decks printed out on Monday because our LGS does (unsanctioned) monthly unlimited proxies Modern tourneys.
currently printing out:
TarmoTwin
Scapeshift
RG Tron (feat. Newlamog)
Jund (some weird list that placed very high at an SCG Open I think, without Bobs and with MB Bitterblossom/Pack Rat/2 Huntmasters)
Suicide Zoo
Living End
taking suggestions for ~4 more common decks to make a solid gauntlet of sorts. definitely need another control deck besides Scapeshift - leaning Esper. and probably should add Burn and/or Affinity (the latter, I'd be interested in testing Karsten's Days Undoing or Hangerback variants, so if anyone has experience with the deck...).
but yeah, trying to get Reck and Gamma to play/get into Modern so I'm giving Gamma the Jund deck (Huntmaster being his favorite card), Will RG Tron, and I'm playing either TarmoTwin or Scapeshift. other decks will be backups and/or used for testing. and I might get esurio to play Suicide Zoo (which looks hella fun).
or I can build modern cheeriosIf you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?

Grixis Control, Merfolk, Affinity, and Burn are your missing gauntlet decks. You also need Amulet Bloom in there, probably in place of Suicide Zoo.
For Affinity, don't get fancy. The current version that runs 4 Galvanic Blasts is going to be the most efficient list. Don't tell yourself you're setting up a gauntlet, and then run mediocre versions of the decks in it. That just makes you get unrealistic expectations of your matchups. Same with Jund. Don't run some crazy Jund brew that happened to do well at one SCG IQ. Play the real version.-

Yep. I'll upload the decklist when I wake up tomorrow - I'm heading off to bed now.
In other news, I wound up going to my first draft today and went 1-2 in best of 3 sets. Every single game I won was because I played Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. Apparently he's a super good card and good enough to be worth a draft on his own.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No but really my deck had a bunch of "meh" landfall cards - I had a couple of good spells in there and a good artifact or two but my creatures were generally lackluster and only served to protect me while I looked for Ulamog. He's easily the most valuable card I have in my collection and I might be in the market to try to fashion a deck around him at some point.Retired.
I'm in your face.-

Alright, so here's my deck:
Spoiler:
Also, is it too outside the realm of possibility to create a deck centered on pumping out Ulamog? I was thinkingmaybesomething like a Blue/Green deck with lots of draw and and defensive options to stall until I get him but I'm not sure if that would be super viable or not.Retired.

I'm proxying extras to slot in when I'm wanting to play something more standard or test against an actual gauntlet. No worries there.
Is Merfolk that common? I feel like I'd see more Bloom Titan (and Suicide Zoo is a deck I'm letting esu try out, not necessarily using it for testing). On the other hand it also seems like a difficult deck to pilot properly with a bunch of inexperienced players attempting to learn their own decks so idkIf you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?

Merfolk, Titan, Jund, and Affinity are the 4 most popular lists in Dailies according to mtggoldfish-
