Announcing: Galaxy, a new-format social game inspired by Pirate Master and brainchild of the illustrious kloud1516. The theme is loosely based around Super Mario Galaxy and the Marioverse, with appearances from other Nintendo characters/titles. 15 players.

We've got a beautiful forum set up, some challenges designed and are actively working on the rest. We're probably on the borderline for whether we should be in the queue now or not, but we'd like to be (the description for abridged seems to fit our current location well).

Alrighty. Can't technically be added in right now, but will be looked into at that time.

Drench and I are planning to run a game of The Amazing Race, and although it's basically not social at all, it attracts the same crowd, so announcing that here! It will not be ready anytime soon though. We're probably going to try and get people actually playing in pairs, and run each leg semi-live. The other option is just getting 11 players and doing each leg live, but when I ran it that way with Xalxe a year and a half ago there were always a lot of people subbing in for people that couldn't be there. Or legs being decided entirely by who actually showed up.

I've thought about doing pairs but still having it live, and just one of the two team members has to be there!

EDIT: Okay me and Klick just talked about this, but new idea is to maybe only let each team member do a maximum of 7 or so legs, and then the final leg is cooperative with both partners online.

Thanks for announcing that here! Sounds great :). You are right that it's not really subject to the queue though.

I don't know if I'm meant to shore interest in that or pablito's similar to amazing race game in the normal game thread. I believe both

I know pablito's is supposed to be more centered around searching for flights, while ours is much more challenge-based, so it just depends on what you're into really!

Just a reminder of what's happening next: RSX is currently running, and the next game that will be going is Battle of the Bands in December. There won't be another staggered start right now. In the next few days, I'll be working on updating everything and checking in with all mods in queue to see where their progress is so as to figure out what will happen after they start. Thanks for your patience and enthusiasm for everything!

See, that's what I thought
But then suddenly I catch a glimpse of a wandering Meloetta and all of that comes into question? Not to mention hype levels being boosted off the charts right now.

DIPLOMACY CHAOS

Image
Hey all! I'm here to gauge interest in a Diplomacy variant I could run. (Which coincidentally happens to be my all time favorite game) It's classic chaos which means it's 34 players and everyone starts with one center. It's a game of political intrigue! Negotiation, Strategy, and Tactics are all important!
The rules are really simple, and the only difference from other diplomacy games run here (other than number of players) is that all press will be
public press only
.
(It makes it a lot more fun, and makes it a fairly low time-consuming game.)

For those who never played diplomacy before, the rules summarized are:
- You get as many armies/fleets as supply centers you own. (supply centers being the dots)
- Armies and fleets can move or hold where they are.
- They can also support the movements or holdings of neighboring countries.
- In order to overpower a place, you need more support than the opponent.
- (And Fleets can convoy armies across the sea)
- Trust no one; they could be lying to you.
Full rules here: http://www.backstabbr.com/rules
Game ends when one player has 18 centers, or when all remaining players want to draw the game together.

The main roadblock to this is getting 34 players, so I want to see how many would be interested (Are there even 34 mish-mash players here). With it being public press, it doesn't take long to organize with whichever alliance group you're in each turn. (If you can get part of a group ;) ) The elimination rate is very high until the midgame so there's a good chance you'll be out in a week anyway.
The best way I could describe this is it's a shorter survivor game without the small-talk, replaced with tactical talk.
Here's an example of a previous game.

I'd consider playing.

Maybe what you could do if you don't get 34 people is try with 17 with everyone controlling two distant SCs?

Also, just a notice that Survivor: Battle of the Bands is within about three weeks of starting the application process.

Awesome! 17 players might work too. We'll see. Anyone interested can PM me, and I'll see if we get enough.
