A while back Hurrikaty asked me for a 5-min setup, and she nearly ran this until I told her it was a joke. Open setup I think this would be awesome though.
Something Something Mafia
Mafia Goon
Mafia Goon
Mafia Traitor (investigates at night for scum)
Mafia Traitor (investigates at night for scum)
Vigilante
Vigilante
Cop (Sane)
Miller (thinks he's a townie)
Doctor
Townie
Townie
Townie
The scum cannot talk with each other. Each night, each scum should PM the mod the name of the person they want to NK. If any two scum PM the same person, the person dies, otherwise, there is no kill. After the night ends, the mod will inform each scum who chose who for the NK. There should be no pre-game discussion between the scum either.l
After 2 scum are killed, the game ceases to have any night (that is no NKs)
If there is one scum and one townie left, then scum wins... (The scum win even if there are two scum and two townies, or three scum and three townies left and the scum don't NK correctly)
Not sure about that, seeing how the last vengeful went.
I want to point out that for the second half of this game (a month) you didn't have a mod. I promise that in general this setup doesn't make mods quit the site.
All voting takes place during the "night." Thus powerroles are excercised during the voting phases. If a powerrole is not used prior to a lynch, they forfeit their ability that cycle. There is no communication outside the thread. Mafia must have a godfather and a goon agreeing on their target before a kill is executed to prevent them from making the Doc role moot by killing immediately at the begining of each new night phase. Some time limit needs to be instated between PMs to the mod for mafia changing their target votes so they can't just go down the list each time.
Nightless mountainous is currently played 4/12 which gives about the same odds as normal mountainous minis.
79.8%, 8.9 days - 4:17 day start (i.e. Norinel's Himalayan Mafia)
77%, 2.5 days - 2:5 day start (i.e. a newbie with no power roles)
72.7%, 6.3 days - 4:7 nightless
66.6%, 7.7 days - 4:8 nightless
64.7%, 4.5 days - 2:10 night start
I don't, they're produced by simulations. Naturally they assume that all moves are made randomly. In practice the town does better than predicted because over time they have the ability to gather information and make better lynch decisions.
edit: It's well known that towns have done badly with vanilla setups, but I think you still have to assume that towns make
some
progress, or else we really may as well design for 50% odds and have towns roll dice when in doubt.

Also, I'd love to play something mountainous. Anyone got any ideas?
Basically is no day phase. Just a fluid game with powerroles/mafia hits occuring during the voting phase. Lynching resets everyone's ability to use their powerrole ability for during the next voting cycle.
2 goons
1 devil (gets "power role" (cop/doc) or "not a power role")
1 SK (no buffs)
1 lyncher (target is a townie)
5 townies
1 unprotectable cop (detects goons and SK)
1 doctor
Lyncher's win condition never changes; he always has the ability to win as a protown survivor.
Basically a low power game (less swingy) with a number of distinct motivations. I don't think this setup is perfect but maybe I'll hit on something better...

This is true. However, the Mafia also does better than random.
They can; I think most don't. A scum that plays as well as in simulations is actually pretty competent, while a townie with a totally random scumdar might be considered so useless as to not be worth playing with.

speedlynch and then discuss in twilight who to kill
3 mafia goons. Two get a kill on each night.
1 SK
2 cops
1 doc
1 Supersaint (or the guy who kills the people or either last voted for their lynch or the night kill)
1 Nightwatchman
3 Townies.
The one remaining Mafia Goon is a GF until one of his people dies then he gets the kill. If 2 mafia are killed then he gets a kill then a roleblock.
Say what you think. All views appreciated!
