Also, since we have a lot of duplicates this game, I feel like it's best to spell it out:
There is a maximum of one scum in {Hinduragi, Jeanne}. (Hinduragi is obviously town; I still think Jeanne is scum.)
There is a maximum of one scum in {Kop, tn5421}. (Kop's left a good initial impression. tn not so much, though I doubt the game's so easy as to be Persivul/Jeanne/tn.)
There is a maximum of one scum in {3dice, EspeciallyTheLies}. (I think both are town.)
There is a maximum of one scum in {ika, Pipe Organist, hiplop}. (ika is pretty town. Pipe Organist isn't solidly town, but early indicators do point that way. If there's scum here, it would probably be hiplop.)
There is a maximum of one scum in {Ranger, davesaz, Persivul}. (I'm town, dave looks decently town, and Persivul really looks like scum.)

Keep this in mind at all times.
It might also be worth looking into what numbers were high in previous drafts, if my theory about Persivul being scum is correct--he picked 8, but there must have been other numbers that got high. If people picked those numbers, they might be potential scumbuddies.

How so?

Because scumbuddies choosing the same number are guaranteeing that they both take a nosedive on the order of roles, handing two town players

at minimum

a higher order on the draft, therefore, a higher chance of drawing a role. It is basically them guaranteeing they become goons and town becomes roles, which is...very obviously, not a pro-scum move, not even for wifom purposes. (Roles trump play, here.)

As 3dice said, scum having chat means they could coordinate which numbers to choose, thus, would not accidentally duplicate.

Sure, I'm in no way saying scum couldn't have picked duplicates, but I do think scum would more likely want PRs over town cred.

Interesting that your definition of "jumping out to help" is explaining something I also considered reasonably viable.

This is of course highly speculative without a flip, but if Ranger's bit about only 1 scum in duplicates was a scum slip, then:

Scenario 1 - 3dice and ETL chose 13s for cover, Ranger chose 8 hoping to be alone with it and get a decent PR - in my research I found 3 games of this setup, and 8 was top 3 in each of them IIRC

Scenario 2 - Ranger and davesaz chose 8s for cover, 3dice

or

ETL chose 13 thinking it was a safe solo number

Double-edged sword though...top drafters will have targets on their backs. Making the draft order public makes it fascinating...tons of wifom possibilities.

Yeah, I was kind of bummed the draft order was public. Wondered if I should just take something lame so it wouldn't matter if I got shot N1. Not saying whether I did or not.

Why does this bother everyone so much? On page 1 there was literally nothing else to talk about yet, and by now the topic would be over if people didn't keep bringing it up to point out how gross it is.

Misc. thoughts since I'm too lazy to write a carefully fleshed-out post:

I don't know if I agree with 3d about Persivul but I do think 3d is thinking like a townie. I don't agree because Jeanne is the one who kept bringing up her role and Persivul is just responding to that.

Was about to write that I don't see why everyone is townreading Hinduragi because I didn't think he looked that town, then I ISOed him and started townreading him as well. Posts a lot, most posts are at least somewhat useful, gives sane reasons for his reads. I think what made me uncomfortable is the general practice of telling people what to talk about but I don't know if this is actually alignment-indicative or just annoying.
