Plot, I thought that your angles on Vedith were pretty strange; in particular, you began your big case on him with a "why haven't we lynched this yet" which was an awkward frame for a case without a consistent theme or a glue to hold it all together, but this wasn't a significant portion of my read on your slot; pie's and MS's play both seemed extremely scummy (MS didn't drop his towntell and not sure why, Pie's hostility towards Wisdom was far enough out of character to make me cringe and while I don't doubt the emotion was real I think Pie shares my tendency to channel negative emotions more as scum plus she was scummy as shit). I am sorry for not focusing in on your posts when we were in the game together; if you are town and have a direction you want me to look into, let me know. I will also spend time going over your posts during the night since I won't be worried about dying!!

@Nacho: My Vedith post was written before I got my role pm. (So was the aneninen post, and the brantz post too). I did numbers for a few people because I wanted to know whether it would be even worth replacing in, if it was going to be one of those games where I couldn't get reads and felt useless and dumb or one of those games where I could usefully contribute. I was excited about the brantz thing because everyone was saying he wouldn't bus as mafia traitor when that's what he did in WDPT, he bussed everybody in WDPT, but that may have been the wrong approach. I think I didn't contribute so usefully after all, but I tried.)

The words weren't the beginning of the Vedith post, the numbers were. It's a map of his trajectory on various slots. + is townready type actions and - is scumready type actions. The "why hasn't he been lynched yet" was the conclusion, not the beginning. I tried to put it into words but the numbers mean more than the words do.


In this game, I was surprised to learn that "I am letting everyone down by not being towny enough" is not an alignment indicative emotion for me. You'd think it'd be a town-only feeling but I was in-real-life pretty unhappy about my inability to obvtown here. In battlestar galactica, I replaced into a slot that was in fairly similar condition to this one and 6 real life days later I was nightkilled, and that's the standard I was holding myself to and I failed pretty miserably at it this time.

I did manage to stop stressing about that recentlyish and I'm mostly over it now, but it took me by surprise.

Day 7 Draws to an End

You feel that you have finally caught the smallest glimpse of the true purpose of this entire adventure. The host's words, "This is as far as we go today" echoes in your mind. Today. You feel confident you will go further tomorrow.

And, it's only in this moment that you notice one of your companions leaving the room. Your eyes fly to the side table.

Tthe final of the 15 cards is laid in the lower right corner. The card shows a stern looking young woman in red. Her gaze looks right through you, through the superficialities and right into your soul. You feel that she shines a light on every thought and motivation. Before her is a scale. On one side is piled a collection of stones and gems. They are tokens of every action you have taken. On the other side a feather seems to float just above the surface, the weight of a pure heart and a clean soul.

It is no simple operation, comparing actions and intents. But her objectivity is complete. She is a reminder that it is your own actions that have created your situation.

In her grouping, with the Heirophant representing spirituality and the 2 of cups representing deep emotional connection, she suggests to you that in this time and place, intentions weigh more heavily than actions. You consider this silently, thinking about all of your companions who have vanished, no longer here to complete this quest. What were their intentions, after all?

Although the layout appears complete, it doesn't satisfy you. There are many questions remaining to be answered, starting with the purpose of the strange ceilingless room far below the ground. The place you finally entered, only to leave once again with the unanswered question reverberating inside your skull.

Day 8 Dawns

You've grown used to the dark and misty mornings at Quinta da Regaleira. This morning despite the mist outside the windows, feels almost electric, filled with potentials and possibilities.

You almost expected to see no change in the side table today, but there is another card laid in the bottom right corner. Somehow you doubt it's actually related to the triad of cards beside it.

The new card is of a young woman seated at a table in a top hat with goggles affixed. Her smile is almost mischievous. In one hand she holds two tarot cards. More cards ar scattered on the table top. Her other hand rests upon a crystal ball whose base depicts the Moon waxing, full and waning. You imagine that the crystal ball comes . to life, mists, not unlike the outdoor morning mists, swirl, and lights twinkle underneath her gloved hand.

You realize that despite the somewhat atypical representation, this is the High Priestess, representing truth that can only learned via direct experience, wisdom and understanding. And it is wisdom and understanding gained through an initiatory experience. It cannot be explained or studied. It is simply known.

Your heart lifts at this dawning realization. Somehow you know that today's explorations won't be fruitless and unsatisfying. And perhaps the questions left unaswered by 15 card spread which is complete but not at all clear in meaning, will be answered.

Your group is much smaller than you were over a week ago when you arrived. But, such is the nature of initiation. Not all who start the journey reach the destination.
