Advice 1: Unless you're serious about Brasil, I'd suggest learning Spanish instead. More speakers and a little more regular/easier to learn.

Advice 2: If you're set on Portuguese, have you tried watching novelas? They're one of our major cultural exports, so there must be some way to watch them in your country.

By Latino, I thought you meant ethnicity, that your ancestors were from the region, not necessarily that you already spoke a language. But all the better - until you're more fluent, you can easily get by with portunhol.

I'm not a big novela fan, actually, so I don't have many suggestions.
The best ones are from TV Globo. It's a shady corporation with a shady past, but they've got more technology and the money to hire the best actors.
Caminho das Índias is good if you want to laugh at Western stereotypes of India.
A Casa das Sete Mulheres is good too, it's about a 19th century southern rebellion.
I don't know how available it is, being from the 80s, but Roque Santeiro is probably the greatest classic.
And we've had a bunch of Emmy winners lately, maybe there's something you like in this list.

Oh geeze haha. Nothing against women from my country, just really like how Brazilian women... tend to be? Haha. You guys are warm people.
Plus I mean Brasil is like one of the most interesting countries in the world and all that. Id like to visit every country in LA and wouldnt wanna miss out on y'all.
