So, a bit of Zito mafia philosophy. I make no apologies, you asked for this.

I don't put much stock in the use of "tells". In my experience, player behavior can and will vary from game to game for a huge variety of reasons - player's alignment, player's role, relationships with other members of the cast, outside influences (especially outside influences), and so on. This is why I don't give any stock to meta, and tells are essentially meta in macro - taking behaviors that a similar group of players (aka 'scum') "tend" to exhibit and using that as a gauge to judge an individual player.

There are a few exceptions to this tho.

I've found, generally, that scum tend to be more defensive than offensive in games, which basically goes with mentality - mafia essentially just need to wait the clock out, survive to the end. This question just reeks of this mindset, it's "I see a threat and want to head it off" vs. "I want to find the scumz". The use of the word "potential" is what really caused my furrowed brow when reading this.

, is that scum players tend to scan the thread for their names. This is related to the first bit - the more you're being discussed, the greater danger you're in. As a town player idgaf if people are talking about me unless there's heavy dissonance in what they're saying in which case I want to pry open their brainmeat and poke around a bit.

It doesn't help that the person who is making this post is extremely active on site yet can't seem to keep up with a game that's moving at a snail's pace, and hasn't left much of a mark on the game even when around.

I have held no reservations this game. I thought it was funny I scumread my own slot, so I said so.
I like Cheet as a person, so I had fun with him (or "buddied" I guess).
I like a good argument based in theory, so I voted it.
I also thought the Raygun comment was hilarious.
and I don't recall why I scumread Spifflop, so I backed off. I'm not gonna make up reasons when I can't remember the original ones!

This isn't the case at all, quite the opposite actually. The way I see it, he listed 4 "potential scum"

: 2 already having wagons, one who is making herself look scummy with her latest posts, and me. Now, if he doesn't have anything to back that up, is that not something to consider? I didn't ask about Ari and Itle, because I see those cases myself. He had somewhat of a timeline on his read on Ami. Me, however, he mentioned my push on itle and my "attack on chevre" which he said wasn't bad, but then said it was "potentialscum - potentialscum interactions" (which I don't understand the logic, was going to ask about that when I actually felt up to playing) and that was about it other than some associatives. Basically, I was trying to figure out if my name was thrown in a pile with already scummy looking people because he had good reasoning, or if there were other motives behind it.

I wasn't scanning at all, and I guess my wording is what brought you to that conclusion? Anyway, I explained why I brought it up, and I've already explained why I said I was going to need to catch up.
