Game-Specific Mechanics

This setup is an open setup. There are 4 mafia members and 14 town members. Each player receives 100 points that they may spend however they choose amongst 30 different 1-shot roles. Whoever spends the most points on each role will receive that role.

In case of a tie for the highest amount spent, no one will receive that role.

After signups are complete, players will be sent their alignment.

After

they are sent alignment, players will have 48 hours to choose how they spend their points.

The mafia private topic will be open during this time so that the mafia can discuss and coordinate.

The second part but considering it in context with the first part makes it worse. Looks like someone trying to deflect attention away from a partner whilst attempting to maintain plausible deniability if they flip scum (ie. along the lines of "well I said he would be a safe kill").

I see more of a fence sitting position, so he can transition his town read to a scum read if the town happens to go that direction.

I say that with a townread on House, though.

Which really is kind of pertinent - why are you thinking of who to night kill, and if you really are thinking of that why bring it up in thread?

Now who IS town is Hebi, because I know her and I know she'd listen to her scumteam, and there's no way a scum team rubber stamps "spend your points on neighbor topics so you can chat with your neighbors while you chat with your neighbors."

I was thinking about this, and would it really be a bad idea? I mean, they take it out of town's hands, and not only that, they could cause a lot of WIFOM with it. Say she's scum, and neighborizes 4 (I think that's how many slots she said she had?) other scum. Town don't have the opportunity to scumhunt elsewhere, and then if she gets killed, we're forced to try to figure out who she would try to neighborize alignment wise. Would she neighborize her scumbuddies? If so, how many? I can see it more than likely making some people in the neighborhood townread on that alone, which would be fantastic for scum.

I spent all my points bidding on the role even though I'm town just to keep it out of scum hands.

Is this serious? I considered doing the same thing (and announcing it post 1) but worried that multiple town might do this and waste a lot of cumulative town points.

I now see why imp didn't want strategy talk in the sign up forum.

I think knowing this information for fact will change night strategies. Maybe even day strategies.

this is bad because I think even at this point in the game firebringer was obv town. He did then immediately jump to spiffeh which is a town hiplop thing to do. Interested in seeing where he goes from here because usually this is about the time he finds a good vote if he's town and continues futzing around if he's scum.
