What I posted to facebook.

My Pickems for those that care.
RNG over SKT
ROX over EDG
C9 over SSG
ANX over H2K
RNG over ROX
ANX over C9
RNG over ANX
Ones that may change. SKT v RNG is a tough one. ANX could win it. SSQ may beat C9. The others I am fairly confident on.

Regardless of what happens I will be going for whoever wins ANX v H2K. And I will be going for whatever team gets to the final from the bottom half expect if it somehow is C9 v Rox.

I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to pick SKT or SSG to win it all.

It's odd to me how little faith you guys have in H2K vs ANX.

Yeah. I think it's going to be a 3-0 or 3-1 in H2K's favor. I know they performed well in groups and all, and it's not like they fluked their way into a spot, but I don't think they're going to challenge H2K over a best of 5 series.

The only non-meta champion really played by ANX were by Likkrit: Brand and then because he had three champs banned against him Taric. I suppose Shen top is now kinda out of the meta. But other than that, they played super standard stuff.

Ban Brand and I don't think H2K has any trouble with ANX's champion pool.

I mean to be fair ANX had no chance in the group stages either.

H2K is the more storied, has the stronger players, has acres of BO5 experience, has better scrims, has better coaching and picks, understands the meta better and generally is everyone's smart pick.

On the other hand I'd absolutely love to see ANX win.

In many ways, the H2K/ANX game is a win-win. Other than having to see Forgiven win, I'd like to see H2K advance, and ANX is obviously a crowd favorite.

Actually, as far as b05's go, I think H2K has a history of doing poorly in bo5 relative to their bo1/bo2 performance and albus has plenty of b05 experience as well. I wouldn't count that as a point in h2k's favor.

H2K certainly do have better lanes and better coaching, but I think stylistically albus have a good match into H2K. I think that H2K wants to snowball and then sort of expects the other team to respect their snowball, if you see what I mean. I think that Albus's penchant to go for objectives they "shouldn't" is something that can potentially do really well against H2K.

At any rate, H2K is easily the weakest first seed out of groups so I'm happy that albus gets this chance.

Well duh. The other three first seeds are Korean.

And you think I'm being biased, but it's where esports is at. It's like playing a top NBA team as a basketball team from any other country on the planet.

Korea's still the best, but this year's showing that the gap continues to close.

The question is when the gap will be fully, or remotely, closed. I think we're a ways off, still.

Honestly? The infrastructure isn't even close to there. Streaming is still the primary revenue sources for teams, and streaming directly interferes with scrim schedules.

If League ever drops a sandbox mode then the gap is going to become unbelievable. I am convinced that's the primary reason we haven't seen one, it's not like they're particularly hard to code.
