I do want to bring up a point about what people would pick based on their alignments however...
In a draft game that I played, not technically a Smalltown though, I picked a scum aligned role specifically to keep it out of scum's hands. It was highly controversial, and I drew a lot of heat for it, but town eventually won the game. Game was DEFCON 3.0. It's important to note that the door swings both ways though, which is why early discussion before roles are even picked is actually somewhat important. In Mass Effect Smalltown, scum took both protective roles.

This early stage of the game shouldn’t be completely discounted, but I think entirely too much paranoia might get built up for what may or may not be savvy choices on the part of the player.


If Deadline is in 3 days, is there anything I need to know? I can't promise I'll have all 50 pages caught up in that time. Do we know which room we are in, because as of right now, I still have only received an alignment PM from the mod, though I've discerned at least what my replacee's role was (I think)?

i was referring to the WIFOM in regards to the statement itself. The way you present it was almost self alleviating, as if you were trying to show that since you brought it up you can't be scum. I'll call a duck a duck and just say that it didn't sit right with me when I read it.

I said that I was recently scum with you offsite and maybe that would help me read your hydra. I've been pretty decent at reading DGB, but if she's inactive that's more difficult, so maybe my experience with you will help.

It's like the confirmation phase of a game. Some scum just have a hard time feeling natural there especially when people are discussing roles as they might not want to say the wrong thing.

That may be true, but we did post in the confirmation phase. Did it seem like we were having a hard time being natural to you? I agree with Double Trouble that it's null. I have little interest in talking roles and instead just going to Day Play. I was also busy, so I didn't have as much time to commit to it as I would have liked. Yet here I am.

I was thrown off by you guys considering taking neighborizer. DGB has said many times that neighborhoods should go the way of the coo coo bird. People weren't only talking roles during that time but were also getting reads by play. I did think it was weird with the amount of people who were talking about me and I was posting and engaged, and you didn't mention me even though we had just been partners, which you could also have done if you were unsure how to approach a town me if you were scum.

I did not know this. Please expand on this.

He was modding a game I was playing at his homesite, and we talked quite a bit. And now that the game has just ended, I can expand on this. I was a survivor in that game, but was playing for the town to win so he's seen a bit of what my town game looks like. He saw me have pretty good reads in that game, and respond quite strongly to someone that I thought had a pretty bad argument and was misrepping me (and was scum).

I haven't played with him so I don't have a feel of what his game looks like, but he comes from a smaller community and I don't think he's been exposed to a lot of different play styles, so I don't think it's extremely out of the ordinary to have some of the ideas he has, i.e. the ordered lists being alignment indicative when they're not. If he's a thing, he knows I'm town and therefore picking at me for that just seems a really odd avenue.

The topic of neighborhoods never came up... I was busy finishing a book layout on a tight schedule so I was pretty swamped and was not paying attention to anything at all. It was like, vig? OK sweet, good... and I asked Ranmaru to handle the mod communications because I seriously didn't have a second to spare for that.

How do you distinguish no fucks given ut town from no fucks given ut scum?

Also, my concern about ut in part stems from the fact that he seems to be playing up to you a bit.

Also, he's not making me laugh. Don't know if that is alignment indicative, but in the few games I have played with him he's usually making me laugh because his responses are snarky but pretty funny. Here they have a bite to them that feels not quite right.
