And yeah it's also not just important that there are a lot of different ways to play mafia, but having a lot of playstyles working together concurrent is more effective than everyone playing the same way.
A game of 20 Nachos is going to be a really, really dumb game.
it would be cool for there to be a mafia game game.
one person is the town, and drafts players to the town.
one person is the scum, and drafts players to the scum.
bro's post made me think of this, because there would be strategy on picking town that worked well with each other. it could be like many other "constructed" games where aggressive (draft the strong scumhunters), defensive (draft the obvtown) strategies exist. People might want to pick specific players that know each other really well and put them as town.
I wonder what the meta would become, and how it would change on whether or not the players knew that this selection process was occurring (in which case there would be wifom in likely/unlikely picks)
i think ideal balance mechanics would dictate that the town player would pick first, the scum player would see the town playerlist, and then pick.
There are games that include non-cult recruitment. They tend to involve trying to outguess the recruiters.
I agree with LLambdadelta.
There are many different skills that a townie/mafia can contribute to their team. Sometimes there are gaps that a single player can fill. Maybe a decent scumfinder is missing from the town, so the one who replaces in is critical; or maybe the mafia need a teammate who can predict the future of the game in order to make the right kills, so the one who replaces in is critical. Other times, a team could use more well-rounded players, because the scumfinder can't push a lynch through, or the goon who knows how the game will go is going to be lynched. Not many skills help both a town and a mafia - the only one that comes to mind is avoiding being lynched. And that's not enough.

You played extremely well in Justified Season 2. Definitely worth the praise given.
Yes my Lord, but questions are dangerous, for they have answers.

I don't think many people can hold a candle to Glork in his prime. He was an absolute machine. There's a reason he's the only two time Paragon winner.
The DGB computer was a sight to behold when she was really turned on.
Fate, I think, caused equal parts harm and good to his games. He was wrong a LOT of the time but carried himself with the same gusto as when he was right, but people seem to only remember the times he was right.
SpyreX is up there, too.
DDDP is terrifying. LlamaFluff has a cold, calculating streak like I've never seen.
As a visceral response to the question of people who have completely and totally schooled you in a game of mafia, the names that instantaneously come to mind are MeMe, mith, and Dragon Phoenix. Looking through the top posters list, Yos2, peacebringer, and Talitha also impart a certain amount of dread.

Hm.
I might do this.
