what's the deal with deadlines here? never played in a mish-mash game before so this is a bit foreign to me. should our first actions be sent before the gamestart or by another deadline afterwards?

channeling fire isn't too stupid though, you technically have better DPR if you just straight-up channel fire and spam Inferno. Of course, that's at the cost of versatility...

vonflare, what are your thoughts on editing healing spells so people can target other players? Alliances are looking like serious business now and making them targetable looks like it would be a way to give them some more viability.

this game would be more fun if no outside of the game communication is allowed TBH

i mean the drama is kind of fun to keep up on but once more people betray each other it might become a shitfest, people being able to heal each other is kind of like putting duct tape over that issue because it just slows WHEN betrayal happens

maybe next time this is run people are in pre-determined teams of 3-5 and can strategize via PTs? and only 2 teams fight at a time

^If you do this, I've been creating a revised spell list to address some of the balance issues that have come up in this game; you can use it if you like. I also expanded it a little.

yea mind control is op and steam blast is garbage xd

other than that most spells are mostly balanced

imo steam blast is only garbage because it costs too much and healing is usually a bad idea in a system like this

because the priority part of it is really situationally useful, it's like priority moves in pokemon for example. you use it on someone with 1 HP so they can't weasel out of dying

so thurhame had that revised spell list for the purpose of teams, and i wanted to do a redux of this with a tabletop twist (tile-based mechanics)... so i decided that maybe both would work pretty well together

i made the map like just now



the columns can give people cover (you can walk behind the top two columns of course), and i'm

hoping

the shape/water of the arena allows for interesting tactics in placement.

i also expanded thurhame's spell list and added a new element in Dark Magic. meditating for it costs a hitpoint in addition to a turn, but the spells should be relatively useful in a tile-based game. i'd have to add ranges to all of the already made spells though

Ghost Hand	1 tile within a 4 tile range.	1 Dark Mana	Enables the caster to cast spells originating from the designated tile rather than the caster themself. The hand has 1 HP, is a valid target for spells, and is damaged by healing spells.
Blindness	1 unobstructed target within 7 tiles.	1 Dark Mana	Inflicts blindness, which forces the target to roll a two-sided die whenever casting a spell that requires a target. A 1 means that the spell fails.
Skeleton	1 tile within a 4 tile range	2 Dark Mana	Creates a mod-controlled skeleton with 2 HP. The skeleton has a melee attack that deals 1 damage to an adjacent target, can move 6 tiles per turn, is a valid target for spells, and is damaged by healing spells.
Blood Mana	Self	2 Dark Mana (or 3 HP to cast without meditating)	Gain 1 mana of 2 different elements.
Equilibrium	1 unobstructed target within 7 tiles.	3 Dark Mana	The HP of the caster and the target are both averaged together. The value (rounded down) is now the HP of both the caster and the target.

might have to tweak it a little but i definitely want to test it out. also undecided on whether dark mana can be fused with other types. curse would probably be moved to Dark+Fire in that case.

also probably going to add some degree of player customization - like the ability to specialize in certain elements (maybe every even turn you get +1 mana of that element, or +1 HP if you specialize in dark magic), an extra hitpoint or two, better movement range, etc..

basically i just need to playtest this and get interest in a co-mod (mostly because this might get complicated and i'm also scared to ask for PT access as a newb ) so that's why i'm posting here. dunno when i'd start this tho
