Taking things 'surface level' is how I choose to understand this game. Mafia will make normal mistakes eventually, and I will see it. The worst thing I could do would be to get distracted by layers of over complex analysis: how many layers should I go? What constitutes WIFOM? Etcetera. There is no answer to any of these questions, not really a best answer anyways. So I'll stick to my guns, thank you very much.

No I mean you're not looking for motivations behind posts. You're looking for what people are trying to accomplish when they write a post. You're not making attempts to read tone.

Ah, that clears things up. However, I will always value purpose over tone, because it's something I can personally figure with more accuracy, as well as purpose being something I can more reliably use. In the future though, I'll keep that in mind.
Edit. Well, for all I know, you could be doing that on purpose so that you can bring up those arguments, especially because you seemed to bring them up earlier under very little pressure.
