Except that's a failed system. Because again, it's not truly a "community gift" it's a "I have x number of friends" gift.In post 972, Shaziro wrote:I mean realistically speaking, the best title is probably one that somebody chooses for themselves in some ways. Of course, the best middle ground is having people vote for it, and then giving the final say to the user. Like we do.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.-

TF's have been fairly decent about pushing back against that, see "Except when he does". Now I agree we're never going to be perfect but it's not exactly broke either.Routine day with a dirt cheap brush
Then a week goes by and it goes untouched
Then two, then three, then a month
Then the rest of your life, you beat yourself up-

I wish I'd been around to nominate Panzer for "the GIF of Jericho" instead
Nom it in maaaaaaaanJoin me on my quest to play every NES game! Some of them are awful.

Yeah, and the people who nommed it are all people I'm friends with. It's not a "gift from MS". It's a badge of "I have 5 friends" which is not really the point of the system. In post 981, Davsto wrote:

along with the standards that a given title nom has to reach and how demonstrably untrue it is that having five friends are necessary to get a title, having five friends on the site willing go through the trouble of getting a good title instituted for you is kind of a lot, tooYou can't step in the same river twice.-

This is patently and demonstrably false. This site is basically a cesspool of people that hate each other. In post 991, Nahdia wrote:

If by "friend" you mean "people that like you" (I don't really count you online only guys as my "friends" sry) then sure, you arguably do need five people who like you to get a title, but let's face it, it's incredibly difficult to be an active member for more than a couple of months and not have five people who like you. It's not like it's a difficult social barrier to reach - even shotty managed it.
Therefore, the 5 nths serve as a process to make sure the title itself is good for the person. 5 people does not a popularity contest make.-
