I agree with you on this. The first quote seems too much like they are trying to avoid getting colourflipped which would be strange for town. Other than the risk of getting lynched for being nearly conftown and taking awau the possibility of colourflipping someone red there is no reason for town not to want to flip. Happy with a vote here.

those 3 voting gamma+Raya just voted gamma = Frog hates the gamma color flip wagon. It's literally 4 of my 5 non-town reads voting my other non-town read.

I don't think he's scum although I do admit that the selfvote then almost immediate switch seemed off. I can see scum doing that to make it look like they don't mind getting colourflipped but I find it more likely he honestly wanted the Gamma vote and is town. Plus I think scum might have been more careful about the timing than Aptil was. Besides that one point I like most of his iso and he seems to be actually scumhunting.

It could help us determine if someone is scum if they flip red or if they are town and scum made them red. Town would have no problem self-hammering whereas scum definitely would. That being said someone self-hammering then flipping red doesn't necessarily mean they are town who had their colour changed by scum.
