I think you're mistaking "making the game all about myself" with me trying to determine if the feelings of the people on my wagon are actually genuine. As you've seen my earlier conclusions were that camn's and Gin's were not. Compare their play around me to Caryatid's, who explained their thoughts on me pretty well and in a manner I can understand coming from town. Gin and camn were unable to do this, which is why I grilled them pretty hard for it.

I have been coming around to the fact that Gin could be town and just has a playstyle that isn't very conducive to mine (to put it nicely). I am curious as to what you think of how camn reacted to my pressure because I think there's a lot wrong with the way she's handled her vote on me overall.

I'm going to talk about camn now. I'm going to explain my townread there in a somewhat mastina-like way and that may annoy you but I assure you I'm not trying to.

And where she does it the most is the area around page 6 with the analysis of the Ginngie self-vote. I think the safe answer that scum will gravitate towards in this situation is something along the lines of it not being alignment indicative or telling and maybe some lip service about how antitown it is and how Ginngie should stop self-voting. These are "correct" and very justifiable responses to Ginngie's self vote regardless of what alignment she is. But camn's subsequent posting makes it very clear she thought the read through to arrive at a much more nuanced answer: Ginngie is tailoring scumplay towards manipulating the playerlist in order to get townread. To me, these kind of details occurring to her are the hallmark of a legitimate read which is, in turn, a hallmark of town.

I don't think your criticism of her being underwhelmed by your revelation that you're waiting to read me and Tammy has much merit. You volunteered the information that you were waiting for something mysterious to happen in Post 138, so I can definitely see where the "build up" began. In my opinion, a premature scumread on Tammy and no read on me are things that would, understandably, disappoint someone waiting for you to get your head in the game. For this reason, I think these are very natural feelings for town to have and I disagree with your assessment that they're opportunistic or scummy.

The game all about you wasn't an insult if that's how it came out. Sometimes I myself get caught up in things in relation to me where I see things tangled up with me and that's a bit of what I thought I was seeing.

This is a good question.
I just thought about it for a while... and though I am not sure I was totally consciously aware of it at the time.. I think the answer is as follows:

(side note.. this is gonna be a nuanced and personal post. please take it the right way)

So, Caryatid.. I know who you are and I know you have read some of my games.
I don't know if you have read them ALL though (I wouldn't put it past you).. so I will give you a little back story.

Here, on MS, there is a certain subset of players, I call them RAGEPLAYERS in my mind. Cowbells. Fate. Katsuki. Many Others.. They have/had a culture of sometimes insane ego-battles.. and for good or ill, they often dominate games with these battles.
Historically, I hope I have stood apart from them, but I have played a NUMBER of games with them, and in that culture/timeframe..and in fact I am closely associated with Katsuki in particular. The game Spiffeh quoted for meta was a camntsuki game. And I may, in my heart, have added to some of that anger-play in the past. Part of my partnership with Kats was to learn to play that way, and to deal with people who play that way without getting smashed to dust.

That said- I don't love that kind of play. (I never have.. which part of why camntsuki was born.) I feel like it is representative of something very male-manipulative, and reflective of the real world in many ways, especially when it comes to gender relations. In real life, men wouldnt speak to each other like this.. because fist-fights and murder would ensue. But they would talk to US this way.. and many times we would simply capitulate. OR we DO talk back... and fist-fights and murder ensue, only we never win.
This is also true, historically, here on ms.net. Often the men involved can handle the purifying flame of CAPSRAGE and hate.. and some of us (not all!) but some, we don't handle it well. We stop playing. we replace out. whatever. And almost always the game sucks.

I have a couple options.
1) I can, of course, egg him on. I could turn that into a total meltdown- but I don't think it is a good time for that, in this game. As above.. I don't know if, personally, I am in a place where I EVER think it is a good time anymore... but I admit there have been times when I did.
2) I can Ignore. This has an undesirable side-effect though. It sends the message that I can be bullied.. which I can't. There are no fists here, and no murder. Just the Lynch, and Spiffeh doesn't have the juice for that atm. OR...
3) I can Defuse.

My post 837 was a defusing post. I don't want to ego-battle Spiffeh right now. Maybe I don't ever. If it comes down to a 1v1, OF COURSE I will dance on his fucking grave.... but this game is young, Spiff is back in it and not lurking anymore... (the wagon accomplished that much, although I would have liked it to get to L-1)... and I think calming that shit down was the right thing to do.

So, my dear Caryatid, that is why.
And maybe, Spiff, this can give you some insight into where I am at too. Before you just go calling everything 'BAD" some more, and wondering why I am not camntsuki.

Normally I spend a Day 1 spinning wheels trying to sort out every person at once and being unsure of what I think. But I am we and having a partner to validate what I think makes me more confident in what I see. (Also I'm not a Jailer, which I think makes me think more aggressively about who to throw in the slammer.) I think you think our combined thoughts are more boring then I am. Flatterer.

Besides, we think the Ashoka case, outlined in Antihero's Post 771, Spiffeh's Post 926, and Caryatid's Post 978, has enough merit to stand on its own without meta.
