I feel like you're kind of looking for what the definition of "is" is
when I'm watching a game I can often enough go "that incomplete pass was the fault of the receiver"
most of the time it is a dropped ball, sometimes it's stumbled feet or some other thing that clearly makes my brain go "oh, that was the fault of the receiver"
I don't know why it has to be more complicated than that
i'm looking to see what the fuck someone means when they use something as vague as "receiver error". you know. a statistic I've never seen used before yesterday. something within a sport that could be a wide variety of things. I would like to know if thats actually measurable or not.
until I see what that dude means by it then nothing else actually matters.
If a receiver and db tangle legs is that receiver error?
drops are obviously receiver error....
but thats why theres already a stat for that.
It's called DROPS. They keep track of those.
If you use a stat and can't define it explicitly, then its an OPINION. Not a stat. In which case it's irrelevant. If it's based on very measurable and explicit metrics then I would consider it a valid method of evaluating quarterbacks. (and possibly as a byproduct receivers)
It's like BABIP in baseball.
Batters sometimes get unlucky. BABIP is usually a pretty fucking good way to determine batters luck.
if a receiver slips on a poorly managed field is that actually the fault of a receiver, or is it the fault of the groundskeepers?
I would be more inclined to say if the field is shit, it's probably not the receivers fault for falling down. humans slip. I would be inclined to chalk that up to bad luck more than an error. if there were a way in football to determine luck, that would be pretty cool.
idk.
I think if receiver error were a well defined stat then it would be a very good stat. I just wish to learn more about its methodology/meaning.
Since we're never going to get an answer about receiver error actually means in writing, then there's very little reason to keep talking about it.

If you are a quarterback and your team is in the bottom 25% of the dropped passes metric, then you might be able to make an argument that your poor stats are a result of your poor receivers. But it probably depends on the other receiver metrics as well.
Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
That is entirely believable because Ray Lewis is a totally trustworthy source who is totally secure with people mocking him and totally doesn't hold grudges.
Chloroform girl, how have you been?

His GF is an idiot for making that tweet. It was likely not the only reason Kap didn't go there
The Jags owner said they could consider Kap moving forward. Am I the only person that thinks Bortles is a descent QB? He is better than Henne.

haha last year during the Eagles vs. Ravens game Daryl Johnston says something like "Osweiler was released from the Broncos, if John Elway doesn't want a QB, I wouldn't want him either / that should tell you something"
I want OAK and DAL to win but I feel this will happen instead
NE > NYG

Oswieler being a Bronco again is funny but given Paxton's injury, its a good insurance move for them

no but that has more to do with my thinking that both Seattle and Green Bay are better than NY.

I agree. Giants don't have the greatest defense. They have an offense capable of lighting it up for 2 or 3 games and making a run but not very likely imho.
So the Dolphins and Bucs are getting screwed into 16 consecutive games by this storm since (presumably) the Dolphins owner didn't want to lose out on the ticket revenue (especially with the fact that they're already going to London).
I do have one question though. Which are there more of this season: Pats wins, or Jets losses?
