Eli has always been trash. When the Giants won the SB they had good oline=good run game. The reason the Giants didn't really address the bad o-line is b/c they were all like "hey, these guys will be good next year" like, part of me really doesn't blame them for believing in their guys.
Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Well, one of those is due to "the luckiest play in NFL history", per Eli himself.

because Peyton is a much much better QB.
not close.
football is a game. games have an element of variance. the idea that some players are better in "high leverage situations" is mostly garbage. There's a lot of research about this in baseball, which shows that the concept of "clutch" is pretty much a biproduct of noise. If we're trying to evaluate how a player does in a sample of 50 at bats, its impossible to draw meaningful conclusions because the sample is way too small. I'm not aware of similar research wrt football but I would be shocked if it were different.
Peyton is a better QB. If you have the weird choice to start peyton over eli in the playoffs (assuming they're both at their prime) and you choose Eli, you have made a monumentally stupid decision.

He played well the rest of the game too. But like, the thing with Eli has always been that hes a perfectly "fine" NFL QB. Sometimes he is good enough and sometimes he is not.
The problem is that this skillset does not age particularly well. And it does not do well with no O line and no running game.
I also think his passion for the game is gone and he's just doing it because that's what he does and probably thinks it is "weak" to retire or somesuch.
true enough
perhaps an indication that he's only ever played football because it's what he thought he should do (well my dad and bro do it and it's expected of me so I guess that's what I'll do) rather than what he wanted to do (which he was never even able to discover) ?
Eli was an above average QB in his prime, but his skill set has always been based on reading coverages pre-snap and throwing balls where only his receivers can get it. Now, thanks to his own natural decline in skill, and the fact that his O-Line can't give him enough time to do what he is best at this is the result you get.
So does Matthew Slater, that doesn't make him a better WR than Julio Jones. Eli was carried to two Super Bowl rings by great defences and/or defensive performances, and let's not forget that the Tyree catch was only so great because, after all the work Eli did to get free of the pressure and set himself up to get a good throw off, he way over threw him and somehow Tyree managed to catch it anyway.

Again, this is slightly unfair. Elis QB ratings in the playoffs that year were 117 132 87 79.
He played really well also.
That again does not mean he is a hall of famer (lol) or even a very good NFL QB.
But if you're going to bash him at least bash him for things he deserves to be bashed for.

Okay but what about a quarterback with 2 rings and better numbers in basically every statistical category? Cause like...that's Peyton Manning. You dumbass.
He's wrong as shit but that was a bit uncalled for.

Donovan McNabb was mediocre at best with an exceptional coach who figured out how to make a contending team in spite McNabb's mediocrity - I wish we would have seen what he could have done with a good or better QB.
His average comp% throughout his career was about league average for a starter but his AY/A was through the roof, meaning he was throwing deeper than most other people each year he played, So he was throwing further than most players on average and was essentially completing those harder passes at a league average clip. This was how he played throughout his entire career essentially.
