yeah twas brutal
almost as savage as the sonics going to oklahoma city...
nah
seattle, actually any city, is better off without a team holding it ransom for huge handouts they can easily afford
this actually brings me to what I really want to talk about: What the fuck is the NFL gonna do about the Chargers?
They aren't making any money off this team. They might be losing it. I don't think they are coming back to San Diego, but something gotta happen man. Maybe move THEM to Vegas and put the Raiders in LA where they belong?
The owner will sell the team because he has failed. If I recall correctly, he moved because San Diego refused to subsidize a new stadium (that he can easily afford I'm sure). The data is out there now. There is no reason for a sports stadium to be subsidized by tax dollars, and we're seeing the fallout play out in real time for the Chargers. LA doesn't want them. They barely want the Rams. Now what?

I don't get it either, but I think the Raiders are confirmed going, I'm just saying they'd be better served putting the Chargers there and changing the name and starting them fresh and putting the Raiders in LA and selling out every week to locals.
I believe there is a ton of support for the Golden Knights. Sports teams have been kept out of Vegas because CASINOS LOL...not because there isn't fan demand.
aye, ppl just want to have shit to go do while in vegas and having sports events is just more to do so they'll fill easily
don't they have boxing there a lot?
and if you get the stadium close enough to some other action, it can be even more of a wild and crazy 'event' thing, integrated and multi-faceted (casino sections, other entertainment, that capacity for combination fun in general)
not that I'm a proponent of any of that
it'll be interesting to see if there's an increase of incidents in players and personnel when in vegas/being the home team
An increase in incidents...just because they are in Vegas?
What makes Vegas this magical place of sin compared to other major US cities? What is the honest difference that when people talk about putting a team in Vegas, they are worried that players are going to be tempted to break league rules or US laws?
Is it gambling? Because gambling is legal in many states...including states which house professional sports team. And certainly with the internet, if you're going to cheat or point shave, you can do it just as easily in Rapid City as you could in Vegas.
Is it prostitution? Because I promise you that players have access to it in any city.
It looks like to me this is a criticism/concern of putting a sports team in Vegas that makes no sense once you stop to think about what that actually means.
prostitution isn't legal in Vegas anyway
and yeah, the gambling arguments are decades out of touch
I think it's mostly because Vegas is a tourist town. A lot like Orlando
And the local population there is, for the most part, transplants from other states/countries so there is less of a 'city pride' that people think is required to support a sports franchise. The worry here is that you end up with something like a Charger effect where home games turn into road games as fans come into the tourist town an attend games in larger numbers than the home team. That's kind of why the Raiders are one of the few teams that makes any sense in Vegas as they have a broad geographical distribution already due to their bad boy persona and team colors that people without a team tend to support.

i doubt the NFL really "cares" about home games/road games. They care about $$$$
Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

He’s expanding Tesla there. I can easily see him making it the official car of the Chargers or something.
I’m not really sure I like the idea of a sports team in Vegas. I don't think it is going to work. Vegas is a tourist town. They are not going to have a loyal and consistent fan base. Their ticket sales will probably go up and down.

I feel like Raiders going to LA would sell better than Chargers. And Raiders going to Vegas would sell better than Chargers going there.
Chargers could go to St Louis or London unless Jags go to London in a few years
I personally don't think its good for a south or west division team to be in London or for nfl to really be in London but since $ controls it all, I can see it happening
