Another, and later take on Utopian societies in Medieval Europe is a bestseller called "Travels of John Mandeville, supposedly penned by the referenced John Mandeville. The book is real, but the supposed author is probably a fiction. One of the many lands and peoples described by Mandeville is this proto-communist society:

In that land is full great heat. And the custom there is such, that men and women go all naked. ... And they wed there no wives, for all the women there be common and they forsake no man. ... And also all the land is common; for all that a man holdeth one year, another man hath it another year; and every man taketh what part that him liketh. And also all the goods of the land be common, corns and all other things: for nothing there is kept in close, ne nothing there is under lock, and every man there taketh what he will without any contradiction, and as rich is one man there as is another.

He described another society where women lived without men:
Beside the land of Chaldea is the land of Amazonia, that is the land of Feminye. And in that realm is all women and no man; not, as some men say, that men may not live there, but for because that the women will not suffer no men amongst them to be their sovereigns.
To modern ears, Amazonia sounds a little bit ant-patriarchy.

Lmao

I was previously afraid that I was biased against Gorny because evil looking avatars generally cause some amount of bias. Doesn't matter if it's batman; black and red evil looking shit just has an effect on the subconscious. This was a mostly off hand remark that was mostly meaningless, and it's either dumb, or purposefully desperate drawing at straws to scum read me.

Then,I thought I might be biased because you were going for *my* throat, but technically still scumhunting.

But now your behavior is just scummy regardless of who you're targeting.

It would be pretty stupid if I wanted to signal something by speaking in code to other scum in the thread instead of just, you know, talking in scum chat?

Lunching/lunch time is a consistent joke I make. It's mafia slang I'm used to. This should be obvious. Either you're trying to read it as scummy because you're bad, or you're making shitty fluff evaluations to make it seem like you're contributing.

Are Porkens and I your only scum reads?

Boozetown is a modern Utopian idea that is much in line with the Land of Cockaigne!

In 1952 Mel Johnson presented investors with his idea of a perfect city—one built on booze. Every street would be a reference to alcohol, and they would even have their own currency called BoozeBucks. There would be a local police system, the Party Police. They wouldn’t arrest people — they would be more like roaming caretakers, giving drunks aspirin and kindly escorting them home when they got lost. Most importantly, no children would be allowed in BoozeTown. Visitors with kids could leave them at the daycare/summer camp area outside the city. When completed, the city would have had moving sidewalks, breweries, distilleries, permanent housing, and even suburbs.

Johnson gave potential investors matchbooks and cocktail napkins, telling them:

Just imagine . . . a resort entirely centered on the culture of alcohol. A boozer’s paradise built expressly to facilitate drinking and the good times that naturally follow. Where the bars, clubs and liquor stores never close. Where the police force is there to help drunks, not hassle them. Where even the street names salute sweet mother booze: Gin Lane, Bourbon Boulevard and Scotch Street. An adult playground like no other. Just imagine.

For some strange reason, no one wanted to invest in Boozetown. Johnson gave up on the idea in 1960

The Indus Valley Civilization flourished for 700 years, roughly contemporaneous with civilizations that rose in Mesopotamia and Egypt.
Unlike the two latter civilizations, that thrived on war, gave rise to dynastic rulerships and hierarchical societies, the Indus Valley civilization nestled on the western coast of Pakistan and northern India apparently thrived for 700 years without armor, weapons, inequality or royalty.

The Ideal City, a 15th Century painting from Renaissance Italy, famously unsigned, but attributed to Luciano Laurana or Melozzo da Forlì.

Italian Renaissance artists and thinkers were fascinated with the concepts of ideals - ideal beauty, ideal governance, ideal architecture. This painting, entitled
The Ideal City
exemplifies that fascination. The angles and proportions of the buildings in this imaginary city are mathematically perfect and mathematically precise. Surely, to live in such a perfect city would encourage perfection in all things.

Not BP.

Read most of the thread overnight, thinking darrenwoodward10 is the last scum. In brief:

Scum knew with the BP claim that they were in the tracker set-up, which means there's a strong incentive not to lose your partner Day One, as that makes the tracker function as a cop. It's not inconceivable, but it's highly unlikely that scum bussed. Given the wagon configuration, you have:

Aristophanes the BP.

northsidegal who declined to push an L-1 wagon on town here:

Nauci, whose vote put the wagon at L-1 and whose motives looked pretty organic.

Porkens who's pretty wacky, but probably not wacky enough to put himself in the danger zone as the IC by getting his buddy lynched with him the most likely subsequent tracker target as the IC.

That just leaves me and darren as the unknowns off the wagon.

More specific thoughts on darren incoming.

Other than the vague analysis of Nauci, this looks right.

BUT, we need to hear more from this Noodle/Penguin slot before we go nuts on Darren.
