It's easier as scum to focus on a 'tell' or a 'scumslip' it's something tangible, doesn't require critical thinking, and when it inevitably fails, your entire scapegoat is that the tell didn't work like you thought it would.

Scum dont want to attract attention as much so focusing on scum hunting methods that involve no guilt are juicy and often used.
