MVP is Wilson's to lose, mostly due to Patriots fatigue.

Brady was good in the Superbowl last year. His performance was par for what Brady normally does.

James White got 3 TDs in that super bowl via receiving and running. He got a 2 point conversion. He also got more receiving yards
than any other player had ever got in any super bowl.

Brady got Super Bowl MVP, but I still feel White deserved it more. What Brady did was routine and par for him. It was also something other QBs had done in the past. What White did was something that had never happened before in any superbowl. (Yes the Patriots had a comeback in the superbowl unlike any before. And 3 tds and 2pt were scored by James white so Brady did not engineer that come back himself. That was a team effort).

Assuming Seatle wins their division, I think Wilson deserves Season MVP.

Let's play a game.

The Cleveland Browns have 4 games to get the one win that would ensure they avoid going 0-16 - Packers, Ravens, at Bears, and at Steelers in that order. Obviously, I don't mean to imply they will win any of those games, but which game do you think they're most likely to win?

I'd say conventional wisdom is the Bears, but my money is on the Steelers. Steelers will have likely clinched the #2 seed while being behind and losing a tiebreaker to the Patriots for the #1 seed (assuming the Pats beat the Steelers, which they'd be favored to do; the AFC West is a garbage division and will have the #4 seed, and I don't think the Jags or Titans are consistent enough to go unbeaten in the last four). The Steelers tend to play down to their opponents, they'll have nothing to play for in the final week of the season and will have an eye on the playoffs already. On the other hand, this will be the Browns last chance to avoid joining the 2008 Lions in the 0-16 club, and Hue Jackson may be coaching for his job. I think that's the setting for a dramatic upset. What do you guys thing?

Don't be a fucking cop out.

Rumour has it David Gettleman might be your next GM. Thoughts? Personally, I'm not sure drafting 17 DTs a year is quite what the Giants need, right now.

The Ravens offense is pretty bad, and Cleveland hasn't been *that* bad at scoring, so this seems a possibility. I do think the Ravens D alone may well be able to score more than 9 points against the Browns, though.

Raven's D is good for 16 points by themselves. Defensive touchdown and then short field Tucker field goals. (after they run up the middle twice for no gain and fail to convert 3rd and long with a short screen)

Packers or Bears, more likely the Bears I think. Their results haven’t been awful l minus Rodgers but the Packers are absolute horseshit right now.

Bears is their best chance. Ravens second best

Packers is possible only if Rodgers does not play. If Rodgers plays, forget about it.

The year Lions went 0-16 they played GB in the last game of the year when GB had nothing more they could clinch iirc. GB still won, I think because they didn't want to take it too easy before playoffs. Steelers may do the same.

I don't think the giants are far enough along in any hiring process for rumors like that to have any basis in reality.

Fair enough. It makes a lot of sense, though, since he worked there before he got the Carolina gig and jokes about drafting DT when there's a serious O-Line need aside, he did mould them into a 15-1 Super Bowl squad, so he didn't do that bad a job, even if Marty Hurney's fingerprints were still all over the roster. Plus, the guy who got him the Carolina job, Ernie Acorsi is consulting on the Giants search. I do think the weird line tendency should worry the Giants, though. Assuming they hire a GM before a coach, who's your preference for the job?

I have more of an archetype in mind than a specific person. I would like a head coach who is:

1) Analytics minded.
2) Not old and "traditional" NFL.
3) Has experience with both sides of the ball.
4) Is known for having a good rapport with the players.

I'm not wedded to all of these criteria, but I think if I were making some sort of a short list it would include:
Teryl Austin
John DeFillipo
Matt Patricia
Dave Toub

I'm sure the giants will just hire Spagnolo and call it a day though because thats what we do.

Sounds like you want to hire Chip Kelly to me

I have a feeling Patricia is just going to sit tight and hope to inheret New England when Bill retires

I don't understand the uproar over the commissioners salary. He's leading a multi billion dollar business. Yeah, it sucks for the players that their salary structure is the worst in major sports and they go through the most punishment, but that is the fault of having a poor union, not the commisioners fault.
