It doesn't look that bad to me at first glance, although I don't really have any strong opinions on it
It does kinda seem that the han solo might not be too han solo-y
It's totally different to rogue one. Whether or not you liked rogue one's execution, the premise made sense in advance. Stuff happened to get the data to the rebels at the beginning of a new hope, and that stuff could have made a good story. A new hope was the ending of someone else's story.
Solo doesn't. The character of Han Solo at the beginning of a new hope only works as a character at the beginning of a movie. He can't have a character arc, so it's a movie about a character who has to be completely static.
Chewbacca would make a much better movie. How did he go from commander of the Wookiee to random smuggler? He doesn't have that much characterization, which would allow the movie more freedom to do what it wanted.
Who said that?
Chamber. It's all a conspiracy.
Or is it?

Huh?
Seriously, what are you talking about? Han Solo has a life before Mos Eisley Cantina. Even discounting what is hinted in the
prequels
Lucas remixes, that's like saying Obi-Wan has to be static.

That's completely different. Obi-wan was the wise mentor, there are plenty of good character arcs which end with a character in position to be the wise mentor. Solo started off as just a standard jerk, there's not many ways to end like that, and none that would fit with Han Solo.

Does it involve Chewbacca's wife watching a cooking show, his dad watching softcore porn, and his son watching an instruction video to assemble a communicator?

I agree with who in this but for different reasons. I
like
hans solo being a nobody who's memorandum are the adventures he had with princess leya and luke. it gives elevation to an ordinary character in which the star wars legacy really needs. I really need a warm epsom salt bath to wash away the
flying carrie fisher
and the
luke toss my light saber to the ground and burn the jedi temple skywalker
character development of
the last jedi
movie.
I loved
rogue one
. it was a fun. and it did exactly what it was supposed to do which was to grab emotion and hope that was felt back when the
star wars
movies first came out.
I feel like an explanation of hans solo will only take away from who his character represented and the mystery around it. he died a noble death.
leave him alone.
eta1: if lucasfilms/disney wants to do spinoffs why not do 1 based on yoda or maz. that wld be infinitely more interesting.
the opinion that han solo should not have a backstory and be left somewhat of an enigma but yoda should have his fleshed out is not one I agree with.
i'm not sure how i feel about han solo getting a movie (probably largely dependent on movie quality), but yoda to me is the perfect example of someone who's best left as a mystery.
one of the problems with a han solo movie is that it probably has to portray him as some level of heroic by the end in order to have a character arc. But that somewhat dilutes the power of ANH.
