I'm so glad the pizza brothers are out...it was torture just to
watch
him.

Mirna -- oh my word. She is completely delusional! She thinks the teams hate her because they're "jealous"? Please. I don't think any of the teams wish they were like Mirna & Charla. I laughed out loud when she straightfacedly said that Colin's got a Napoleon complex and that Christie is submissive. I think that, just like the rest of us have from time to time, she's getting Christie & Nicole confused...

As for the taxi episode -- I thought it was perfectly logical and good play for C&M to try to grab one of the other teams' taxis; I didn't have a problem with the plan and effort to execute it. What I
did
have a problem with was their refusal to budge once Colin told her they were holding the cab...Mirna's telling the cabbie that C&C are maniacs...and Charla's yelling "Go then if you're in such a hurry!" at them.

When Mirna was digging, Charla was not a cheerleader by any means. Did you hear her? She said things like "you're so slow!" and "Dig your ass over here!" The rest of the teams at least try to cheer for each other when one's doing a roadblock. I'm beginning to wonder if Charla & Mirna aren't cut from the same cloth but CBS is just not interested in airing "bitchy little person" segments, focusing instead on Mirna's behavior. Just a thought.

In conclusion:
Go Chip & Kim

I thought much the same thing after the last episode. After all, we really haven't seen Charla tell Mirna to shut up.

I agree that trying to get the cab wasn't a problem, just that they refused to leave when they were told it was being held. And I can't get past the spitting; I
never
seen anyone actually spit at someone else before.

I havent read the whole thread yet so if I mention something thats already been said just ignore it, but did anyone notice Chips referra to the Nile as where Moses said Let my People Go?

And i was thinking to myself when the 2 Pizzateers were doing seperate testimonials that if they really wanted their brother to know they'd be sitting right next to them. Wouldnt it be ironic if the brothers quit during a non elimination leg?

Yeah I agree with you about Charla and Mirna, MeMe, I think the fact that Charla? has only done one 'rigorous' task is pathetic, and her trying to tell Mirna? to keep up is pathetic too, and then they get all snooty about them being envied by everyone else because theyre so good. Homestly who envies a midget/dwarf?
All that doctoro mumbo jumbo was hilarious, they cant speak spanish but they can speak Egyptian or whatever language she used to tell the driver they were crazy. They need to not be so pushy, like in the previews, when one of the other groups is in the doorway at the airport and the shorter one says, "Move out of the way, B****"

And that caviar they had to eat had like 80 grams of salt in it, which is like your weekly regular amount. Its seriously so unhealthy for you that eating that much will cause you to get sick with something.

one phrase that was repeated over and over again pained me to hear....

"What the heck is a Scarab?"

Did anybody else find it strange that nobody knew what a scarab was?

Absolutely. All four of us knew immediately what they were talking about. But this was no weirder than last week's "I think the prodigal son is Jesus!" :)

I think those are the best parts of the show, when someone says 'Whats that?' but you learned what it was in like the 4th grade, the scarab thing was the best, followed by Chips Moses statement.

You know, blackhawk -- the Nile
is
where Moses said "Let my people go." Or am I misunderstanding why you think it's funny?

I thought it would've been funny if the sand was filled with several differant artifacts, so they'd have to keep running up and asking if it was it. While I was a bit surprised no one knew what a scarab was, it's not like scarabs are the topic of daily converstation or anything.

My favs right now are Chip & Kim, since they're so enthusiastic, and Colin & Christie, since they're racing so well.

Well...I gotta say, I did like Mirna and Charla...

But they did exaggerate everything just a little...

Ok...they over exaggerated everything...

But I still found them to be interesting.

Yiippee, no more Mirna! Charla has done great and certainly has shown the world that little people can do as much as regular people. She certainly did more of the roadblocks than Mirna did.

And Chip and Kim are in first place :)

Now call me crazy, but isn't Egypt part of Africa? Why would everyone be "going to Africa" when they are going from Egypt to Kenya/Tanzania?

Hehe. I was wondering the same thing. I think maybe they think of Egypt as more Arabic than African.

Yay for Chip and Kim and the cousins :P
I missed the first few eps but did Charla really do as much? The eps I saw, she was only whining at Mirna and the only notable thing she did was the egg. I felt bad for Colin though, with the egg. Poor guy. Looks like he goes to jail next time? :?

I think that it's because although Egypt is part of continental Africa, the cultures are so diverse. No one thinks pyramids and camels when you say "Africa."

Another great episode, eh? I'm glad that I won't have to hear any more of Mirna's attempts at locally accented English...

Anyone have any theories about why Brandon/Nicole & the twins got charged so much for the bus? Was it their attitude or the fact that they wanted the bus to leave before it was scheduled or what? We thought, at first, that it might be because the bus operators saw the first group with video cameras...and put two & two together about rich American TV people when the second group came along...but then we laughed even harder when the third group got charged least of all! And although the situation with the man demanding more payment was frightening -- what a wussy Brandon was. And I can't believe that Nicole threw the cash on the ground. Regardless of the situation, someone proclaiming their Christianity at every opportunity should be very careful about respecting others. You can disagree without demeaning.

Order I like the teams currently
:
Chip & Kim (by a HUGE margin)
Bowling Moms
Twins
Colin & Christie
Brandon & Nicole

Agree with the order 'cept I'd put the Moms first.
I personally would also not like to have been at odds with that big man :P
And anyway, Brandon can't afford to have his looks "altered". Think of the modelling contracts he'd lose out on. :P

Huzzah, Mirna's off of my TV. Though Rupert seems to snuck in on the commercials. grrr

I disagree about the Moms; they are boring and can't seem to race without following someone.

About the bus fare, I wonder if it $5/$3 a piece for the first/last bus, and $40 bucks per team and camera men. That would mean B&N and the Twins only paid about twice as much. Still, I bet they weren't happy at the pit stop.

My rankings:
Chip & Kim
Colin & Christie
Brandon & Nicole
The twins
The moms

I don't understand how you're breaking down the bus costs, CoolBot....doesn't every team have a camera crew?

And I think that your observation about the Moms being followers is apt -- but it applies to the twins as well (maybe even a little more so) -- and I just
like
the moms better.

Did anyone notice all the hints that this would be non-elimination? ("next" has been most of the season, but: past seasons have alternated non-elim legs once they started, Phil didn't say "The last team to check in here will be eliminated" when describing the pitstop clue, none of the teams were shown reading "Warning: the last team to check in will/may be eliminated", and the long dramatic pause complete with drumroll after he said they were last to arrive)

I think CoolBot's saying that the $5 was per person (Which with two racers and two crew makes 20) and the 40+ was per foursome.
