Lynches

Deadline

: Each day will be deadlined to :arrow: 3 weeks, depending on my real life issues (no extensions planned). If we reach a deadline without a lynch the player (or No Lynch) with the most votes will be lynched. In the case of a tie, the one who got to that number of votes first will be lynched.

Exception:

In a lynch-or-loose situation the votes needed are NOT reduced. Should there be no active votes at deadline no one will be lynched.

Setup

The F11 setup is the current game format used in Newbie games. To prevent the development of game-breaking strategies, these Newbie Games are Semi-Open, wherein the actual game setup is randomly chosen from one of four possible setups as detailed below:

• 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 1 Sane Cop, 1 Sane Doctor, 5 Townies
  
• 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 7 Townies
  
• 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Sane Cop, 6 Townies
  
• 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Sane Doctor, 6 Townies

If either of the first two setups are in play, and the situation occurs where the Goon is lynched first, the Roleblocker will still be able to submit both night kills and roleblocks (roleblocking is a function of the Roleblocker; night kills are a function of the scum team as a whole).

Mafia Roleblocker:

You are a member of the Mafia along with your partner,

• During the NIGHT cycle ONLY, you may talk with your fellow Mafia (via a quicktopic link) and choose another player in the town to kill that night.
  
• You may communicate privately with your fellow Mafia up until the game thread is opened. Once the game begins, all outside communication must cease until the night cycle.
  
• You win when the number of Mafia equals or exceeds the number of remaining Town players, whether you survive to the end or not.

Town-Aligned players:

Townie:

You are a normal townsperson, trying to make a living and survive this insanity.

• You have no abilities at Night other than getting a good night's rest.
  
• Although you do not have any special abilities, your voice and vote are powerful weapons in their own right. Use them to your best advantage!
  
• At no time may you privately communicate with any other player.
  
• You win when all the Mafia players are gone, whether you survive to the end or not.

Cop:

You are the local law enforcement, and can tell the good guys from the bad.

• Each NIGHT, you may send the moderator a PM with your choice of player that you want to investigate.
  
• The Moderator will inform you as to that person’s guilt or innocence.
  
• At no time may you privately communicate with any other player.
  
• In a Newbie game, you will always get a correct result (no sanity issues).
  
• You win when all the Mafia players are gone, whether you survive to the end or not.

Doctor:

You are the local physician, and can protect people from harm.

• Each NIGHT, you may send the moderator a PM with your choice of player that you want to protect.
  
• If someone attempts to kill that player during the Night, they will be spared.
  
• You may not protect yourself.
  
• At no time may you privately communicate with any other player.
  
• In a Newbie game, your protection target will always live through the night (no quacks).
  
• You win when all the Mafia players are gone, whether you survive to the end or not.

The tiny hamlet of noobcheshire has been invaded by an evil mob organisation. The mayor has already been killed an the hamlet now only consists of nine persons, where two of them are actually mafia scums. The villagers have decided to vote each day on who to lynch as a mean to find scum. Let’s see how that brilliant plan works out.

Yes, I'm your IC. So everyone can feel free to ask me questions. I remember my first newbie game I was concerned that if the IC was scum/Mafia, he'd lead my astray, but have since discovered that all IC's (and now myself included) agree before playing to only give appropriate advice. So anything I tell you guys about game theory, advice on how to play, etc, you can assume is sincere (even if, during the course of the game, you otherwise suspect me).

There are differing opinions on the value of the RVS. The simplest explanation is that it gives people a chance to vote, and say stuff without the stress of forming a case based on nothing. The general flow of the early game, in my experience, goes from RVS to someone nitpicking on something in RVS (or someone intentionally doing something scummy to remove the game from the RVS stage).

So in this instance, I noticed that Mindgamer, Donuthead, and Zing all voted for Username. This could be an example of one of Donuthead or Zing trying to propel us from RVS, or it could be an example of opportunistic scum trying to get in on an early RVS wagon. Since I'm one of the people who like to get out of RVS as quickly as possible, I looked over their explanations for the vote, decided Zing seemed the most scummy (he appeared to simultaneously vote and try and disavow the meaning of his vote in the same post), and voted for him. Now there's something for us to discuss and argue about (did I opportunistically jump on Zing when I voted for him? did he opportunistically jump on the Username wagon?) and we're out of RVS. It did its job.

About the opportunistic voting: I'm inclined to agree. Both Donuthead6410 and Zang made themselves suspicious in my eyes by not coming up with their own reasonings. But that's not enough for my vote yet, so for now I will give them a finger of suspicion.

To be honest I don't really see much use in these fingers. Everyone will be constantly on their toes for everyone regardless of how many fingers one has. But I will adapt to the general playstyle until I have developed my own strategies for mafiahunting.
