Da Rules

Rules of Conduct
01. Use common sense. This means no excessive flaming or anything prohibited on these forums.
02. You may NOT communicate about this game outside of this thread unless you are a member of the Mafia, and it is nighttime.
03. Do not use invisible text, extremely small text, or any other methods of concealing text.
04. Players who have not posted in three days will be automatically prodded. A person will be replaced if a prod is not picked up in 48 hours. Prods may be requested on any player who has not posted in 24 hours though.
05. Please bold all votes and mod requests such as Vote: ShadowLurker. Even if I see an unbolded vote, I will NOT count it.
06. I will try to post a vote count at least once a page. As always, you may request one in thread.
07. Discussion may occur in twilight (after a majority has been reached but I have not locked the thread yet). Twilight ends when I post the lynch scene.
08. Once you are dead, you are dead. A "bah" post is acceptable but please make sure you do not reveal ANY information that may be relevant to the game.
09. If you do not wish to use a night choice, please submit "none." Nights will usually last 48 hours unless a request for an extension is PMed. If I do not receive a night choice, I will assume no action.
10. All questions about your role, or questions/comments related to my decisions should be directed to PM and not in-thread. If I think the answer should be made public knowledge, I will post the question and answer.

Technical Rules
01. Each day, the Town has an option of lynching a person. The town may decide to lynch nobody. A lynch requires a majority of the alive members to occur while not lynching merely requires at least half of the alive members. (Ex. with 6 alive, it would be 4 to lynch, but only 3 to not lynch)
02. After the day phase, the game will proceed to a Night Phase, which will last 48 hours or when all choices are in, whichever is shorter. If I have not received a choice by the time night ends, I will assume you are choosing not to use your action. Prods may or may not be sent out during night.
03. Deadlines may be imposed if the game is lagging. There will be no lynch if a deadline hits and a majority has not been reached. These may be extended, retracted, pushed forward, etc. depending on activity and player requests. However, Each game day has a three week maximum deadline.

Setup

This game follows the standard F11 setup.

The game will follow one of four setups:
    * 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 1 Sane Cop, 1 Doctor, 5 Vanilla Townies.
    * 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 7 Townies.
    * 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Sane Cop, 6 Townies.
    * 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Doctor, 6 Townies.

Here are what each role PM contains. Keep in mind some of these may not even be in the game though!

Mafia Goon (1-2)
Hello, you are a Mafia Goon. Your partner, who is a Mafia (role), is name. Each night, you may communicate amongst each other and kill one person. It does not matter who sends in the kill as long as someone does. You may also talk with your partner during the confirmation stage but as soon as the day starts, talk must cease.
You win when the town is entirely eliminated or when nothing can prevent the same.

Mafia Roleblocker (0-1)
Hello, you are a Mafia Roleblocker. Your partner, who is a Mafia Goon, is name. Each night, you may communicate amongst each other and kill one person. In addition, you may also prevent a person from taking a night action if they have one. You may also talk with your partner during the confirmation stage but as soon as the day starts, talk must cease.
You win when the town is entirely eliminated or when nothing can prevent the same.

Sane Cop (0-1)
Hello, you are the Sane Cop. Each night, you may investigate one person, and I will reveal to your their alignment. You may not investigate yourself.
You win when the mafia is entirely eliminated and at least one member of the town is still alive.

Doctor (0-1)
Hello, you are the Doctor. Each night, you may protect one person, which will prevent them from being killed for that night. You may not protect yourself.
You win when the mafia is entirely eliminated and at least one member of the town is still alive.

Vanilla Townie (5-7)
Hello, you are a Vanilla Townie. While you do not have any special powers, your powers of deduction and your vote are still critical if the town is to win this game. Use them wisely!
You win when the mafia is entirely eliminated and at least one member of the town is still alive.

All role PMs are out.

Please confirm by replying in-thread, not replying to the Role PM. Mafia, you may discuss strategy while the confirmation stage is ongoing. Good luck all!

Note: Pulindar is on V/LA for a couple of days and thus we will start the game when everyone but Pulindar has confirmed.

Mod, just to confirm, there are 2 ICs and only one SE this time? That seems backwards from what I've seen.

I remember when newbies used to have two IC's. We're taking this game old school.

Yes, that is correct. Our SEs seem to be slacking and our ICs picking that slack up :P

So as previously mentioned, Pulindar has real life issues to attend to for one or two more days but let's get going!

It is day 1! With 9 alive, it is 5 to lynch.

Hey guys, I'm NabNab, and I guess I'll be one of your two IC's for this game. I'm here to answer any questions you might have about gameplay specifics and terminology. If you're unclear on what a term means or what its significance is, don't be afraid to ask. I'm also here to set an example of quality play in the Mafiascum model, which means I play hard, I play smart, and I play to win.*

For those of you who are unaware, we typically start games with an Random Voting Stage (RVS) here in lieu of any sort of N0 action. Even though it's capitalized and has it's own acronym, you won't see any mention of RVS in the rules. Rather, it is an informal custom with a strong foundation both in objective theory (ie. It's a good idea to do it) and in subjective tradition (ie. We like to do it). Feel free to abstain, but don't expect to do so without explaining yourself. An example of random voting is seen below:

*My position as IC places one caveat on this. I will not misrepresent accepted game theory for my own ends. In other words, if you ask me a question about general strategy or terminology (Example: "Is it a good idea to No Lynch D1?"), I am bound to answer it as honestly as possible regardless of whether that helps or hurts my role (In this case, the answer would be "No"). It is also my personal policy to make it clear when I am talking about a subject where no clear theory consensus exists or when my personal position on a subject tends to differ from the norm.
