Rules
:

In (very) Short

Seven spaces. Unlimited players (though I'd like to keep it to 10 or less ACTIVE players). When one player hits space 7, the game is over and the person furthest from the last space is the winner.

The Particulars

The Play
- Each round, a category will be given, such as "Name Five Pieces of Exercise Equipment" or "Which Player Reads the Most Novels." I will give a deadline for PM submissions of your answers and, at deadline, will post them all. The point is not to give the correct answer(s), but to give the most
popular
answer(s). No internet searching!

The Round Scoring
- You will score zero points for any answer you gave which matched no one else's...and points equal to the number of people who answered the same as you for each item on your list. For example, if the category was "Give three names for little boys" and the answers given were (in a four-person game)...

Billy (CoolBot, Crola, nonny)
3 points

Bobby (Crola, nonny, Xanthe)
3 points

Johnny (CoolBot, Crola)
2 points

George (CoolBot, Xanthe)
2 points

Ralph (nonny)
0 points

Rufus (Xanthe)
0 points

...so the scores for this round would be:

Crola: 8
CoolBot: 7
nonny: 6
Xanthe: 5

Board Movement
- After the round scores are tallied, the player with the least number of points for the round moves forward one space. If there is a tie for least number of points, all those involved in the tie move forward (unless
all
players are tied, in which case there is no movement). We clear the points and start the next round.

Game End
- When at least one player reaches the last space, the player furthest back wins the game. If there is more than one player tied for winning position, those who've reached space seven are out of the game and the rest will continue until there is a clear winner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
**Remember: the goal of this game is to think like everyone else! You may know the RIGHT answers...but if no one else does, it won't help you in this game.
Who wants to play?
Oh, and since sign-ups went so fast, I'll accept submissions from anyone who sends them in before the deadline and just add you into the game. But once deadline hits or all submissions of those who signed up are received (whichever comes first), no new players!
Drama King, jeep, Locus Cosecant
, and
Save The Dragons
each came up with 0 points that round and move onto the first board space.
New category is "Name Five Things That Come to Mind When You Think of Ernest Hemingway."
Deadline is 9 p.m. EST Thursday, March 10
(little less than 72 hours from this post), though I'll happily post early if I get all choices in.
I'll be keeping the last round's answers & points in the front post until I replace them with the new round's stuff -- but remember that all points are wiped and only board standings remain from round to round. All that matters point-wise is not landing in last place.
What happens with synonyms?
Example: One person puts 'ball' and another puts 'sphere.'
The rule is open to interpretation...and since I'm the mod I'll be the one doing the interpreting. I think I can be impartial.
In your example, I'd probably count those as equal (writing it as ball/sphere in the answers listing) UNLESS someone put both ball and sphere as two answers in their submission.
True synonyms, however, count as such, e.g. "Nicole Kidman" and "that red-haired actress who used to be married to Tom Cruise."
Is that clear enough?
Astronaut
and
Fletcher
each came up with 0 points that round and move onto the first board space.
New category is "List Four Polite Words for
fat
."
Deadline is 6 p.m. EST Saturday, March 12
(about 66 1/2 hours from this post).
Also, just in case it wasn't obvious, please do not do internet searches for any category. If you know nothing about a subject, well -- sorry about that...but you still have a shot at matching someone if you just take a stab.
