Legitimately, there are people I love playing with who I don't particularly think qualify for any of the current scummies. Should we not recognize their contributions to the funness of games. (Yes, that's a word, now)
I've only made one good post, and don't you dare accuse me of doing it again.
Yes, it is, to recognize people that make a community a better place.
Why do you think the Miss America Pageant has a Miss Congeniality?
Or the Roberto Clemente award in baseball?
I think it's totally legitimate to recognize the people who are around to make the games more fun, and just be a positive force in the community by being a nice and fun person, not necessarily by being the smartest or most cunning.

In post 195, ActionDan wrote:Talking about Paragon, do incumbents have term limits?
Only self-imposed. Candidates are capable of, should they wish to, self-disqualifying themselves from the award.
But failing that, yes, if Ellibereth is nominated again--and yes he is eligible for 2018 Paragon because of his gamebreaking THIS year in multiple towngames--he can and would win it again.
I’ll explain a lot more later BUT the tl;dr reason is:
They have the best reads out of any town player I am aware of that isn’t Ellibereth.
They are always extremely obvious town
They can get their reads lynched
Like they’re probably just he best town player that still plays currently. Let’s look at Varsoon’s recently ended game.
By D2 they had the whole scumteam in their FoS pool and build an extremely strong townbloc. Their play was so strong that most of their reads would be carried out even after death if V didn’t completely abandon his game (we still love him though). He is the only reason why the village would have 100% won that game.
I'm trying to find a good quote that summarises just how hard mutantdevle got pocketed by skitter here but there are so many. I'll go with the (first) bit of source material:
Spoiler: Mutant fed this directly to scum via a messaging mechanic
I am a mason.
Aronis is my mason partner. Our mason chat is only open at night including night 0.
I believe Wheme is a role cop who checked me night 0. The reason I believe this is because of his posts: 145 (initial crumb to me), 192-194, 249-251, 454 and it wasn't until my 494 that he stopped trying to emphasise how town I am.
You obviously send these messages and I town read you anyway.
Ausuka is a lie detector and probably not scum.
the worst has be confirmed town by said lie detector.
And obviously you've just seen 123456789 claim and I also think that comes from town.
So basically we have a town block of {me, Aronis, Wheme, you, Ausuka, the worst and 123456789} that's only really known to me, you and Aronis. I expect someone from this list to die tonight. I hope this information aids you in your reads and at some point I'd like to think that claiming this block and all their roles will let the town PoE everything else.
I'm slightly cautious of Wheme tbh because of his third-party claim but I think he's just doing that to not get night killed. And 123456789 obviously gets confirmed if Firebringer is scum but if he's town then I wouldn't consider 123456789 part of this block.
But yeah skitter carried the scumteam to a perfect scum win which involved 6 consecutive mislynches.
Game was Gerrymandering Shadow Government Democracy Mafia btw

A copy-paste of my nomination of Shoshin for Rising Star.
name: shoshin
reason:
She is a strong analytical player that I believe serves as a great representative of the 2018 playerbase. She's excellent at engaging scumreads and quickly solidifying townreads. As a scumpartner said in one game, Shoshin eliminates potential mislynch targets at a frightening pace.
I think that she has a great sense and intuition for what scum looks like and maintains reads well above average for town. To round this out I think she's excellent at staying active, engaging players, and generating useful content herself and from others. An excellent player to have on your town team.
^ just saw this but would n'th
labyrinth mafia is another great sample (she had the scumteam correctly nailed for like...most of the game and it still got to MyLo )
3rd backing Shoshin nomination. I will never again ignore her scumreads.

We just need to tread carefully because if you slip up around her as scum she notices and will tear your spine out and slap you to death with it. (I'm slightly scared of Nancy)

Nancy is pretty heavenly ngl

Nancy-scum feels like a hot knife slicing through butter. Nancy-town feels like a magnifying glass in the sun glaring down at an insect.
Playing a game where you had to be in groups was incredibly fun and made it more enjoyable. As scum you had to make sure to make the groups right or it would be very easy to lose, and from town perspective they're forced to possibly lynch their townreads to lynch scum as well.
Not sure If this has been done before, the groups thing. But, I think he stated it hadn't been.
+ a million. Thanks for reminding me that was a brilliant setup/mechanic.
It was very very very fun and took the psychological aspect of mafia to far greater heights.
Good reads are not enough. You have to know how to convince others which lynch is optimal. You have to recognize when it is correct to lynch yourself.
Just overall a great game. I wanted to win so bad like no other game and yet when I lost it didn't take away from the enjoyment of the game. The entertaining gameplay far outweighed the desire to win and considering the desire to win was so friggin high that is a huge testament to how awesome the mechanic is/was. I think it should be a recurring mechanic. The only variation should be in existence of and number of the PRs in the game to increase its longterm playability/attraction. Though imo it would work even as a fixed open setup because every game could still be so different.
Though if we're going by that there are almost no noms this year at all...
We'll probably be announcing to nominate people around the start of 2019, since 2018 scummy nominations don't close until the end of January. (Although to be eligible, the game needs to end in 2018; any game ending in January of 2019 is still to be nominated for the 2019 scummies.)
