A subway train screeches along early in the morning as half-awake passengers ride to their destinations. Some are staring out the windows into the dark, winding tunnels lit by old, dim lights while others sleep or keep themselves occupied by reading or listening to music. It all seems like the beginnings of a typical day. The subway train continues its path winding through the tunnels continuing along its way into the heart of downtown Cog City.
BLAM! A gunshot sounds near the front of the train. The passengers look around startled and wide-eyed wondering what’s going on as the train slowly decreases its speed, grinding steadily almost to a halt. Suddenly the train picks up speed again, accelerating faster than ever climbing to speeds of about 60 to 70 M.P.H. As the passengers struggle to figure out what the hell could be going on, the train’s brakes slam, decelerating the train quickly and grinding the wheels to a deadening halt. All of the passengers are flung forward slamming their bodies against the poles and walls within the train causing most of them to die instantaneously from the impact. The others enter a state of unconsciousness…
3 hours pass.
7 A.M.
The passengers that are still alive begin to come to their senses checking the bodies of their fellow civilians. They realize that most of them are dead as their bodies lie motionless lacking a pulse. Only 12 of them remain alive and they begin staring at one another wondering if they could trust each other. Suddenly they hear the train’s intercom crackling as the train’s trusty engineer struggles to find his voice.
“At-at-at-attention passengers. I don’t have much time to live. I’ve been shot and wounded *cough cough*, and I can feel my energy draining. Do not trust each other… some of you are responsible for……”
The engineer’s voice trails off as he passes away, his energy and oxygen escaping him.
Some of you know who is responsible for this. Others know that it’s time to get down to some serious business…
